Chiefs Coach Makes Staggering Confession on Super Bowl ‘Fatigue’ With Patrick Mahomes Revealed as ‘Burden’ After Loss to Eagles

After Super Bowl LIX, everyone had one question: what happened to the Chiefs? The team unexpectedly fell pretty badly under pressure losing 40-22 to the Eagles. They haven’t experienced a collapse like this in a long time. And the collapse came when they had the opportunity to achieve a historic 3-peat. Ouch. The loss was truly disheartening but it appears that the real reason for their loss has surfaced. So what can it be?

According to NFL insider Henry McKenna, one of the team’s coaches believes the team is fatigued right now. Translation? This meant that the team was not as enthusiastic and excited for the game on a Super Bowl level. The Chiefs have made it to the Super Bowl five times in the last six years, which is an incredible feat in itself. And this year was no exception, because of this, the team was a bit too relaxed for the game. But why would they do something like this?

The Chiefs were getting tired of going to the Super Bowl:

The report claims the coach stated, “Before the game, a Chiefs coach told me that media members had been asking him if going to Super Bowls ever got old. And he bluntly told me: ‘It does.’ There was legit Super Bowl fatigue from this Chiefs team. It was completely clear in the first half when things escalated quickly.”

These words have elicited a significant response from fans, who argue that this is one of their explanations. Due to these words, there have already been comparisons between the Chiefs and the Patriots, who had a dominant run for 18 years. The Patriots went on to play Super Bowl for 11 seasons and won six out of those 11 appearances. This meant that the team had success of just over 50 percent but they were never tired of that. On the other hand, the Chiefs have played only 7 Super Bowls and still, they are already tired.

While there have been some challenging times for the entire crew. The Chiefs coach’s statements truly disappointed the fans. However, these were not the only disappointing comments from the team’s coaching staff. Joe Bleymaier also had a few words to say about their outstanding QB Patrick Mahomes. But what is it that he really said?

Patrick Mahomes becomes a burden for the Chiefs coaching staff

Wait, what? It’s extremely shocking that a coach would think like this. But how can Mahomes, an extremely talented QB, be considered a burden? That too, on his own team? So, Joe Bleymaier, the team’s passing coordinator, recently commented that Patrick Mahomes is perhaps overly skilled. As a result, the coaching staff is occasionally afraid of making mistakes with him.

Bleymaier remarked, “[Mahomes’ success] makes [coaching him] so much more stressful, You feel the burden as a coach and as you’re putting a game plan together to not waste his abilities. To not go through a season where you don’t give him the opportunity. To not screw it up as the coaching staff. So rather than feeling like this just unbridled excitement that we could do anything, it’s actually more like a terror, like we cannot be the reason that we screwed this guy up or this team up.”

Not only that, Bleymaier claims that it’s a terror for him too that Mahomes does not mess up. Unfortunately, the mess-up eventually happened in the Super Bowl where the QB exhibited his worst performance of the season. The man had 257 passing yards with 3 TDs. But the sad part was that it had two interceptions and six sacks. Perhaps, it was these stats that cost the Kansas City Chiefs their heartbreaking 3-peat loss.

What are your thoughts on Bleymaier’s comments? Do you think a coach should have a mentality like this? Tell us in the comments.
