Amidst rumors about a potential interim heavyweight title bout between Ciryl Gane and Tom Aspinall, the Frenchman is also knocking out villains and fighting crime. Surprised? Don’t be! ‘Bon Gamin’ is starring in ‘K.O.,’ which happens to be his action-packed new film set to drop on Netflix this June. Currently riding a two-fight win streak after his heavyweight title setback against Jon Jones at UFC 285, Gane is making serious waves both inside and outside the cage, and fans are loving every second of it.
Starring as Bastien, Ciryl Gane’s new movie is an action-packed endeavor directed by Antoine Blossier. For those unaware, Blossier also directed The Far Cry Experience, a live-action adaptation of the popular Far Cry video game series. Gane’s story begins with him living in isolation after accidentally killing his opponent named Enzo in an MMA fight three years ago.
Now, years later, Enzo’s widow (played by Alice Belaïdi) tracks him down to ask for a favor: To help her find her teenage son named Leo, who has gone missing in the northern streets of Marseille. After listening to Enzo’s widow’s story, Bastien (Ciryl Gane) sets off on a journey looking for the missing son. In the middle of his quest, he meets the female lead, Kenza, a young cop who is prepared to do everything in her power to bring down the new crime lords of Marseille. The movie revolves around Leo, who is in grave danger, but where is he? That is left unanswered!
K.O. is set to release on Netflix on June 6th next month, and it should be noted that it will be an exclusive OTT release. Making inroads in the silver screen, this will be Gane’s first movie as a lead, but it must be noted that even before this Netflix debut, the Frenchman has been trying his hand at movies. Interestingly, the former interim champion was even an essential part of Den of Thieves 2, directed by Christian Gudegas.
Coming back to the fighting realm, Chael Sonnen stirred the pot about the UFC trying to set up a fight between Ciryl Gane and Tom Aspinall. However, with Gane’s movie set to release on Netflix soon, many believe the likelihood of him facing the Brit has decreased. Let’s take a look at what the fans have to say!
The MMA world reacts to Ciryl Gane’s action-packed Netflix debut
To start off, it was Ciryl Gane’s former opponent, Jon Jones, who came forward to show his appreciation for Gane’s performance. The undisputed heavyweight champion took to the comment section to express his praise, “Dope.” Following Jones, former 170 lbs champion in the form of Kamaru Usman came forward to react to the news—and he just dropped fire in the comments section of the K.O. trailer,“”
After the glam and sham of the personalities in the MMA world, we shift focus to a fan who is awestruck by the multi-talented skills of Cyril Gane. They added, “How can you be a good fighter and a great actor ?” With a career record of 13 wins and 2 losses, Gane’s MMA journey is going remarkably well — but that’s not all.
The Frenchman has also appeared in several movies and shows, including Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, Medellín, The Misadventures of Hedi and Cokeman, and The Cage. With a versatile career as a fighter, Gane has also been making his mark on film sets. Furthermore, another fan highlighted the stagnation of the heavyweight division since Jones took hold of the title.
It has been over 500 days since Aspinall became the interim 265lbs champ at UFC 295, yet we have yet to witness a unification clash between Aspinall and Jones. Instead, ‘Bones’ decided to defend his crown against a 42-year-old Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 last year. Since they are not fighting, the entire heavyweight division seems to be in a hiatus, “Lol, in fact, Ciryl Gane, it’s side quests on side quests since he left his job as a dumpster.”
A curious fan had a question for Gane, “Is it because of this movie we didn’t get the Aspinal vs. Gane?” Last but not least, a social media user highlighted that Gane is nothing but a French version of Hollywood hotshot Dwayne Johnson, owing to his ripped physique: “The French Dwayne Johnson is in the house.”
With the film set to release soon, Ciryl Gane is gearing up to promote it and ensure his fans don’t miss out. That said, what are your thoughts on Gane’s film career? Share your opinion in the comments below!
