Claims of White Sox Owner Reportedly Insulting Bryce Harper Sends Shockwaves Across MLB Nation

Bryce Harper is a cornerstone for the Philadelphia Phillies today. But before he donned red and white, he seriously had a chance to make it big in Chicago. Back in 2019, he was eyeing the opportunity to move to Chicago, especially the White Sox. This information has resurfaced and now is going viral in X. Only this time, it has sent shockwaves through the MLB world.

According to a story on X, a White Sox fan had bumped into Harper and made an offhand comment about how glad he was that Harper didn’t move to Chicago. Because let’s face it, the White Sox are in a dire position, and if last year was their worst, this year is going no better. But surprisingly, Harper’s response was not a “phew! Rather, he said that the White Sox were his favorite team to visit during the time.

The fan probably thought it was just a white lie, but Harper, to prove the point, asked his wife, “Babe, who was my favorite team visit?” She, lo and behold, answered, “The White Sox.” So what went wrong with the deal?

A DM I was sent overnight. Nothing we didn’t know, just another reminder how awful Reinsdorf is

Hahn: “Hey Jerry, a 1st ballot HOF wants to sign a relatively cheap deal here. We just have to offer it to him”

Jerry: “the FUCK did you say? Go win 85 games and gtfo of my office” pic.twitter.com/tPnBrJdlcU

Well, it turns out that it was not Bryce Harper who walked away from the deal—it was the White Sox franchise. Rather, it was specifically the longtime owner Jerry Reinsdorf who, it turns out, skipped an important second meeting with the Phillies superstar. So what could have been a franchise-defining moment simply vanished because he didn’t take any accountability. For a club that’s drooling at the bottom of the standings, this mistake stings even bigger.

And if you think that things have changed, and maybe Jerry Reinsdorf would want to rev things up—you are wrong. For now, he wants to change nothing. In fact, according to Bob Nightengale, Reinsdorf has clarified that he has no intention to sell the team as long as he is in good health. He even shot down all the interest by Justin Ishbia in buying the team.

Right, fans are not just asking, How will this season pass? Rather demanding for Reinsdorf to step down, and this news of losing Harper has created havoc online.
