Concerning Travis Hunter Draft Intel Reported by NFL Exec as CU Star’s Combine Intentions Cleared in New Update

“Drafting Travis Hunter is like ordering from the McDonald’s menu.” Calling the Heisman winner a one-stop American fast-food shop might sound weird but hear us out. McD’s menu has something for everyone and this perfectly aligns with Travis Hunter’s 2-way style. On the receiver end, Travis Hunter is your good old McChicken – not something the average person would complain about, but a part of you would think that maybe you should’ve gotten a chicken sandwich from the local Deli. As a cornerback though, Hunter is your good ol Big Mac and fries. Nothing comes close to this. So when you put a player like this in the “What position will he play in the NFL?” topic, it creates a ton of confusion.

“An anonymous NFC executive thinks that Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter has some “rough edges” in his technique when playing wide receiver.” This take shared by jpafootball has 2 sides: 1. First of the take on Hunter needing more improvement to be a season, WR is not exactly wrong. However, 2. He has his whole career ahead of him (to get in that “improvement”). Now could this “anonymous” opinion pummel Hunter’s draft stock? Well, not exactly…

See, one thing you have to keep in mind: No matter what happens, Hunter is still going to be one of the top picks of this year. This guy has the Heisman and the record to prove he is more than capable of turning things around on the offense and defense. But now if you ask us which position he is going to go for? That is something even the gods don’t know.

Since the very start, the 2-way phenom has been very clear about his intentions – “I understand that it will be a high risk, [teams] don’t want their top pick to go down too early and I know they’re going to want me to be in a couple packages. But I believe I can do it.” But the past 24 hours have changed the narrative.

With the invite list out, many people had expected Hunter to be listed as “WR/CB” for the combine. However, that has not been the case. Dov Kleiman broke the news on X and if you ask us, we have mixed opinions.

Combine revelation for the 2-way star

“𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Colorado’s Travis Hunter will attend the NFL Scouting Combine as a CornerBack.” Now we have 2 opinions regarding this which we think many people could agree on. 1. He has been listed as a CB because they had to list him as something, right? 2. If you skim through all the footage, Hunter is arguably a better defensive player than an offense.

Now we ain’t saying he is a bad WR. This guy has caught some massive passes and his body bends in ways that give us shivers. But my god on defense? Hunter created history. 3 picks with a returning touchdown in 2 different games? 20 years of FBS and this has never been done before.

No wonder why so many analysts want Hunter as a defensive player. With his coverage and how snappy his hands are, he could very well be landing some Cooper DeJean-level pick-six in the NFL.
