The Florida Gators went into the 2024 season with an axe hanging over Billy Napier’s head. He failed to perform up to the standards in his previous two seasons and would have been fired at a whim if he had not delivered the results. The Gators finished their last regular season game against FSU with a win by 31-11, and it ended with a winning season. The Gators ended up with a 7-5 margin in the regular season.
They had the toughest schedule in probably the whole of college football, and they came out of it strong. So Napier got another season to land success. But you have to recruit good prospects and think for the long term. In that regard, it seems Napier has been quite inattentive as of now, as his 2026 class has just 2 commits. Those being 4-star QB Will Griffin and 3-star Safety Devin Jackson. But it seems now he is starting to build on that, and a third one is on the cards.
On3’s Simmons Scoop, speaking on ON3 recruits with Josh Newberg, provided the update regarding a 295 lbs offensive lineman on which the Gators are closing in. “Breck Kolojay has not officially cut his list down or named favorites, or eliminated anybody. But Florida, I would put in that upper half if he had a list somewhere in that top group somewhere, whether that was, you know, four schools, six schools, or seven schools.“
Simmons Scoop is right that the player has come to the college multiple times and will likely schedule another visit in the spring, as reported by 247 Sports. So far, the prospect has made three visits to Florida, the most to the Miami Hurricanes being 5. However, that doesn’t mean that Gators aren’t running ahead in the race to land him. This is because the Gators are ranked third to land Kolojay at a probability of 10.2% on On3.
Well, Simmons Scoop also provided a scenario where Gators and Billy Napier could lock on to their O-line target. “Look, he’s still taking trips everywhere, and look, he’s from Colorado; that’s where his family’s at. He’s going to school here at IMG, so it’s very important to kind of get his family on campus. He’ll be around this spring all over the place; like you said, one is Florida coming up here soon. He’s been to Florida multiple times for games, for junior days. He’s had one-on-one time with Rob Sale (Gators OC), Billy Napier, and the coaching staff in Gainesville. He likes the community, he likes the fan base, he likes the people, he likes SEC football.” Well, that says a lot since the player will actually take the feel of all the programs before locking on to a single target.
Why is Breck Kolojay being pursued so hotly?
The player is quite talented and so far has received 31 offers from different colleges. These include big names like Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Miami, and USC Trojans. He has already visited more than ten schools. And has several other visits coming up to Miami, Georgia, and the Volunteers in June. Sure, it’s likely to land him. The race will be quite intense in that regard. Thanks to his talent and the potential he possesses.
Standing at 6 feet and 5 inches tall and weighing around 295 lbs. He will be a tank in the O line. Furthermore, he is a student of IMG Academy, which is quite well-known for producing talented players. Take, for example, players like Kaytron Allen, the receiver for Penn State; Anthony Weaver, who has an illustrious coaching career in the NFL; and Jihaad Campbell, who was a linebacker for Alabama. Sure, Breck Kolojay has a lot to choose from going forward to continue the rich legacy of his high school.
