Conditions Set for Jake Paul’s Next Fight as Redemption Seeking Ex-Rival Signals Intentions

It is hard to fathom that of all fighters, Jake Paul might be having trouble finding opponents. Given how many fighters are ready to take a swing at him, it should be a simple task. However, that is not the case as ever since his Mike Tyson bout, finding an opponent of the same caliber has been difficult.

The negotiations against Canelo Alvarez collapsed, and Gervonta Davis is stuck with Lamont Roach rematch, leaving ‘El Gallo’ in deep waters. Amidst the chaos, former BKFC King of Violence champion Mike Perry threw his hat in the ring, wanting to settle scores with the 27-year-old. On the weekend, he doubled down on the challenge, revealing his conditions for the fight.

Mike Perry wants vengeance

A few weeks ago, Perry shared his desire to have Jake Paul rematch on his OverDogs Podcast. On Sunday, he sat down with The Schmo and doubled down on his eagerness for revenge.“I want Jake Paul to face me again. I want to fight Jake Paul again,” he declared.

However, unlike last time, he wants a proper time frame for training. When Mike Perry stepped in for Mike Tyson last year, he had just five weeks to train. Noticeably, he was out of his depth, and lack of training was visible as Jake Paul knocked him out in the sixth round. “If it’s with gloves. I need 10 weeks, if it’s without gloves, I need 6 weeks,” he specified.

The Platinum desperately wants to change the story, asserting that with proper training, things will be different. “I’ll get prepared cuz I’m too busy f*****g living my life. You want to call me on three and a half week notice and I’ve chilling, hanging out, partying, having fun. I need to know what’s coming so I can get in the gym twice a day, add some recovery to that and you will see the best version of Platinum,” Perry vowed.

Furthermore, the Orlando native believes that with proper time, he could face anyone, let alone Jake Paul. However, given the circumstances, the chances of this bout happening are quite slim. Yet, hope remains as Jake Paul has a secret announcement in store.

The most important week for Jake Paul

On the weekend, Jake Paul, alongside Amanda Serrano, attended a presser after Katie Taylor-Serrano’s kick-off press conference. During the presser, a Fight Hub TV interviewer asked The Problem Child about his future. “The Canelo fight fell through at the last minute. What’s next for you? What do you want next?” he asked.

The 27-year-old assured everyone that plans are in work and was sounding quite confident. However, he didn’t miss the chance to take a swipe at Canelo Alvarez, showing his frustration. “But it’s funny like I’ve said this before in boxing and it holds true what boxers don’t like boxing. They don’t want to sign the contract so we’ll see what happens,” he said.

Still, the setbacks are not stopping him as he indicated a massive announcement scheduled for next week. However, this time, he is not letting anything get leaked. “We do have an announcement next week but I’m just not going to leak anything. We’ve had these fights pulled twice now at the one-yard line. Canelo, Gervonta, so I’m just not going to jinx it and say anything,” he concluded.

So, in a few days, Jake Paul’s opponent will be revealed. Will that be Mike Perry? It seems unlikely. However, it will indeed be nice to see Paul facing a wild ‘Platinum’ with proper training time. What do you think will be Jake Paul’s next opponent? Let us know your thoughts down below.
