It’s true that Joe Rogan’s podcast has the ability to push the guests to great heights. Many even claim that Donald Trump was able to win the 2024 Presidential election because he came up on the Joe Rogan Experience. He even surpassed 500 million all-time views on Spotify in 2024. On top of that, the JRE has a massive subscriber army of 19.5 million. And now, seemingly to propel himself even further, Conor McGregor asked if he could come live in the JRE studio.
Taking to X, the former UFC double champion wrote, “What’s up [Joe Rogan] my man I messaged you! Are you looking for a guest on the podcast, I have a great one for you!” The famed UFC color commentator is yet to respond to the Irishman’s request. Well, McGregor’s troubles are no stranger to the UFC world. The Irishman has often found himself in the middle of controversies, like the civil case against Nikita Hand and people refusing his return to the UFC because of his lavish partying habits. But one can’t deny the star power that he carries. And while the world was still waiting for a response from the beloved UFC color commentator, ‘The Notorious’ dropped yet another hint regarding his request to become a guest in the JRE.
‘Mystic Mac’ came across a picture of him standing beside Rogan on Instagram. It was the time when the 57-year-old podcaster interviewed McGregor at the UFC 264 weigh-ins. With a mind full of nostalgia and hope to get featured in the podcast, ‘The Notorious’ shared the post on his IG Story. And the background music that he put? It was ‘fallen angel, Cash!*’ by Project Wayne. It indeed seemed like a hint to an upcoming McGregor’s appearance on Rogan’s podcast, don’t you agree?
The JRE episode featuring ‘The Notorious’ would definitely skyrocket. And the fighting community has been asking for the same for ages. But Joe Rogan was well aware of how far Conor McGregor has fallen. Well, not in terms of popularity, but as a fighter. Let’s see what Rogan had to say about the downfall.
Joe Rogan talks about Conor McGregor’s downfall
According to the JRE host, McGregor’s downfall came in because of money from Floyd Mayweather fight. During a previous episode of the JRE, he said, “Conor self-destructed in a lot of ways because of money. He took that fight with Floyd Mayweather, made a ton of money off that, and then took a long time before he came back to MMA—and he’s just not been the same guy since. I think that’s just money, it’s a lot of partying, but it’s the same kind of thing. It’s just wild. But when Conor was in his prime, he was a f—ing assassin.”
As far as McGregor’s return to the UFC was concerned, Rogan wasn’t sure if it was ever going to happen. Back in 2024, the Irishman was found liable in the civil case against Nikita Hand. This put him down even further, with people hating on him from all corners. And according to Rogan, it was all because of his partying habits. Well, it was also the reason why the JRe host believed he was not fighting anytime soon.
With McGregor’s erratic behavior, it seemed highly unlikely for Rogan to invite him to the podcast set. But with the fighting community pressuring him for the same, he might just drop in a date for the interview. Needless to say, the episode would boost both of their popularity by a thousand folds.
