Conor McGregor is proudly sporting his role as a part-owner of the BKFC, and it looks like he’s competing with Dana White and the $12 billion business he’s running. ‘The Notorious’ is taking his co-owned venture to places never touched before by the UFC, like Italy and Spain. Last year, the promotion went to Spain for BKFC on DAZN 1. This year, BKFC 73 was held in Italy at the Palazzo Wanny in Florence, on April 26, 2025.
But it’s not just unfamiliar territory that McGregor is taking BKFC to—he’s even going into territory Dana White has taken the UFC to. Last month, BKFC 71 and 72 were held in the UAE, Dubai to be specific. And now, the promotion will head to the Land Down Under! That’s right. The official page of BKFC posted, “PERTH! WE’LL SEE YOU JULY 19! LIVE FROM @RACArena!” McGregor showed his excitement as well, commenting, “ OZZY! OZZY! OZZY! OI OI OI !.” He posted Instagram stories as well with the same caption and showed his excitement about the same.
It truly is a spectacle to see the Irishman take this seemingly obscure combat sport, and elevate it to mainstream levels. What’s even more fascinating is the fact that he’s being seen as a rival to the UFC head honcho, even though they’re managing promotions in different combat sports. And as for his Octagon return, that’s just something that seems to have taken a backseat, as confirmed by Dana White himself.
“He’s not fighting anytime soon. I haven’t talked to him in a minute, but yeah, I don’t know,” Dana White recently stated, as per MMA Fighting. On the other hand, Dana White has bigger fish to fry, it seems, like trying to get Jon Jones to fight Tom Aspinall in a title unification bout, and his new boxing venture with the head of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), Turki Alalshikh.
However, recently, it seemed like Turki Alalshikh snubbed the UFC CEO because he made a fight announcement on X with no sign of Dana White. It was initially announced that Dana White, as part of the TKO Group, would promote the event. However, White did not respond or post about the same after Alalshikh announced it on X, saying, “We have confirmed the promoter for Canelo v Crawford will be Sela for Riyadh Season.”
Clearly, something seems to be going on behind the scenes, especially for Dana White to come out and dismiss McGregor fighting. But why did he do that? Well, because ‘The Notorious’ got up to his notorious ways. Let’s see what unfolded.
Conor McGregor’s sends a cryptic message about his return to the UFC
Last week ‘The Notorious’ sent a message to the UFC. McGregor tagging Dana White and the TKO Group account on X with a message that read, “CALL THAT BIG B—B NURSE”. Now, what does this mean? Well, the MMA outlet @westtilldeath wrote, “Conor McGregor is ready to get back in the testing pool to return to the UFC; if he tested tomorrow, he could fight as soon as November 15th.”
Interestingly, this news comes after Dana White announced an array of shocking news updates about UFC. As soon as Belal Muhammad lost his belt to Jack Della Maddalena, Islam Makhachev vacated his lightweight title. Now this belt is up for grabs between Charles Oliveira and Ilia Topuria at UFC 317. This might be the reason that McGregor might want to come back and take the lightweight crown. McGregor also shared a compilation of the UFC boss announcing his entrances with a caption that read, “Let’s get this show started @UFC.”
However, let’s not forget that he previously demanded a stadium show for himself as a condition for his return to the Octagon. So what does the future hold for McGregor when it comes to UFC? He still has two fights left in his contract but will he come back? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
