Looks like even celebrities aren’t immune to the rollercoaster of being a Dallas Cowboys fan. You know Kelly Clarkson, the Since U Been Gone singer, 3-time Grammy-winning voice? Yep, she has been pretty open about her love for the Cowboys. Having been born in Fort Worth, TX—just 33 miles away from Dallas, Clarkson’s been a Cowboys fan since her childhood. I mean, she once famously said, “We still win even though we lose. It’s remarkable,” after she sang Get Up for America’s Team in 2012. From there, it was pretty well known that Clarkson was a die-hard Cowboy fan. But it seems even her patience with Jerry Jones’ handling of the Cowboys is also running out.
Hopping on the latest episode of Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie Podcast, Clarkson didn’t hesitate to throw some shade at Jones for giving false expectations. She apparently remembered a comment where Jerry Jones had said, “Well, this is now, it’s the time.” Seeing Jones trying to motivate the Cowboys Nation, Clarkson came to a shocking realization. She was like, “Oh, okay. So it’s different from the last. Now is the time.” Then, she also recalled, “Very different from last year’s time, which was also now the time.”
Judging by Clarkson’s comments on Jones, you could easily guess she is used to the Cowboys GM’s manipulation. But Clarkson isn’t the only one who is simply fed up with Jones. The Athletic’s Mike Jones also had some harsh yet honest words about the Cowboys’ owner, as he said, “Jerry Jones loves to claim he wants to win another Super Bowl in the worst say. But above all, Jones loves being the center of attention and maintaining control.” Hard to find lies there. But Mike further solidified his claim by adding more to his thoughts.
“That causes him to hold onto coaches too long because he doesn’t want to pay them not to work. Or to pass on hiring the most talented coaches because they might want more power than he’s willing to cede,” clearly referring to the Deion Sanders saga. It was pretty well-known that the Cowboys had an interest in bringing Sanders back to Dallas. However, it was also an open secret that he probably would have wanted more say on the roster than Jones.
So, obviously, Jones didn’t want that to happen. And to keep his authority at the Star intact, he ended up replacing Mike McCarthy with Brian Schottenheimer, who might just be the puppet Jones wanted in Dallas. While there seems to be a vendetta against Jones’ reign in Dallas, it seems he may have a supporter within the ranks.
Micah Parsons stands as a shield for Jerry Jones
Ever since the Cowboys dynasty drew its curtains in the 1990s, Jones has caught flak for his mismanagement. Like, there hasn’t been a single year in which Jones hasn’t been criticized by the Cowboys faithful. Not calling Derrick Henry while he was still a free agent because Jones apparently didn’t have enough money—blew up big time in his face. Henry went on to sign with the Ravens and earned his 5th Pro Bowl while leading the league in rushing TDs (16). Then, there was the CeeDee Lamb drama. Dragging his contract negotiations for too long and giving him a mammoth $136M extension with $100M in guarantees—looked like a slap in the face of Dallas.

Still, it seems Micah Parsons found a way to defend his boss, saying, “Me and Jerry Jones, we done talked. That’s my dog. We gotta stop that Jerry Jones hate. Listen, I’m telling y’all right now, Cowboys Nation. Jerry Jones is much better as a GM than you guys think. I never met a man that takes better care of his players.” Oh, really? Is Jones taking care of his players now? I mean, yeah, he made Dak Prescott the highest-paid QB in the league and gave CeeDee Lamb a top-10 highest-paid receiver deal, but is money really the focus here to judge Jones’ treatment of his players?
Remember how Lamb requested for curtains to be used in AT&T Stadium after beaming sun rays didn’t allow him to complete a catch? Yep, that’s when Jones said it wasn’t his priority, among other things. That’s just one example of Jones ignoring his players. There might be hundreds more out there. So, it shouldn’t be a total surprise that the Cowboys Nation has started to grow tired of years of mediocrity. It isn’t even a surprise anymore—it’s common knowledge.
