So far so good. But as the headlines grew quirkier, Dale Earnhardt Jr and Amy started making more mistakes. For instance, they were divided in terms of their passion. “I grew up in south Texas, I didn’t grow up around racing,” Amy admitted recently. In contrast, Dale Jr lived and breathed racing, being the son of 7-time Cup Series champion and legendary racer Dale Earnhardt. Then the heavy spotlight that comes with being the partner of a high-profile racer was also a factor. When the show ‘Bless Your Hardt’ was released, Dale Jr confessed that he was concerned about his wife being affected “by any kind of positive or negative criticism.”
