Folks, we know many NASCAR drivers have hobbies outside of the sport. Like for Denny Hamlin, it’s golf. For Tony Stewart, surprisingly, it’s deer hunting. Yup, “Smoke” has been doing that for more than 30 years now. Jimmie Johnson is into running marathons. And, of course, everyone knows that Dale Earnhardt Jr. is into computer gaming. And this passion dates back to the early 2000s when he was living with Martin Turex Jr. Also, until now, we thought Junior was the biggest gamer in NASCAR. But that might not be true. Bubba Wallace might beat him to it!
Look, when we say Junior is into gaming, we mean serious gaming. Locked in with his headphones on for hours. Or how his wife, Amy, had said, “He was completely nocturnal by choice. He played video games, raced, or did all that in the middle of the night and then slept as much as he could during the day.” Well, that might have been a bit much. But the point is that Junior takes it very seriously. And there comes a time in every gamer’s life when they build their first custom gaming computer. Dale Jr. had his back in 2020 and has been flexing it ever since. But gaming fans might now change teams, as Bubba Wallace’s latest setup is public. And it has even Dale Earnhardt Jr. drooling.
Bubba Wallace’s gaming computer has Dale Jr. in awe!
How a car enthusiast would appreciate another car enthusiast’s collection, the same is the case in computer gaming. The community always appreciates their fellow gamers’ set-ups. And Junior is big into this. If you recall, only recently, 2x NBA Champion Kevin Durant shared his in an X post where he wrote, “New PC with RTX 5090 and OLED 4k monitor.. Thanks to @msiUSA for the parts and my family, @Brparado for setting me up. Let me go put in this 8 hour shift in the zone.” Durant’s got a Motorola Solutions setup, and they are one of the best in the gaming business. And Junior was the first one to reply to Durant’s post with fire emojis.
And now he’s got the same reaction for Bubba Wallace‘s setup. Wallace also shared his setup in an X post recently: “New crib gaming setup coming along nicely @LogitechG.” While not many details can be seen in Wallace’s post, looking at that CPU, this looks like a custom build, too. And like MSI, Logitech is big into gaming as well. The company has a net worth of close to $10 billion. So Wallace’s got to be one of the top-line setups. And for the folks who don’t know, Logitech’s been Wallace’s sponsor since 2021, so they must have given him the best setups. Dale Jr. was super impressed. He replied with a GIF to Wallace’s post. It’s the face of Jack Nicholson from the movie ‘Anger Management’ when he is subtly moving his head up and down in approval. Well, it looks like Junior is jealous of Wallace! Take a look:

And in comparison, Junior’s setup isn’t half bad. Back in 2020, he built the PC, and he had a top-notch GeForce RTX graphics card in it. For the non-gamers, this is one of the best you can get. At least, it was five years ago. Surely, Junior must have upgraded it over time to keep up with the graphics-heavy games of today. Junior had previously admitted. “This hobby started back in the mid-90s. I learned over the years how to upgrade hardware.” Back then, he was probably playing the 1990 game ‘NASCAR Racing,’ among others. Dale Jr. has also gone into detail in the past about his gaming days with his roommate Martin Truex Jr., and the stories are wild, to say the least!
In 2019, Martin Truex Jr. appeared on the Dale Jr. Download, and of course, their time as roommates was at the forefront of the discussion. Dale Jr. recollected, “Four brand-new computers come back in the house; we’re in there upgrading, updating, installing; everybody’s got a wheel. I mean, we had it set up. We had a lot of fun; we raced all night long, slept all day, ate junk, drank beer, and he drank Captain; that’s his drink; he’s a Captain Morgan guy.” While this does not sound like a healthy schedule at all, this is usually what gamers do, and it’s a memory that Junior cherishes dearly.
While Junior’s late-night gaming and days rooming with MTJ are in the past, it’s clear that his love for video games has not died down one bit. And like Junior, many fans are drooling over Bubba Wallace’s setup.
Fans appreciate Wallace’s gaming console
Wallace isn’t the most loved driver in the NASCAR community. But after flaunting his gaming setup, he’s become quite popular. Many know that Wallace loved playing the drums growing up. But not many knew the gamer side of him, and that took fans by surprise. And looking at this setup, fans couldn’t help but be amazed. One fan wrote, “Well done @BubbaWallace .” Another fan echoing the same emotions wrote, “Love it. Need it.” Well, that’s what Logitech wants!
Also, the #23 driver is heavily into sim racing. This made Logitech come in a partnership with him back in 2021. And naturally, Bubba was delighted with this. He had previously said, “The first steering wheel I used in gaming was Logitech’s G27. Today, I use the Logitech G923 wheel and pedals and the Driving Force Shifter when I race in the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series. The racing sim market is only growing, and I’m ready to get to work to help Logitech continue to dominate this space.”
And if you look at Wallace’s new set up, he’s got two monitors. Fans are guessing one is for computer games and the other is for sim racing. However, this one fan has a wild guess. According to him, maybe Wallace’s wife is joining him for a few sessions, too, on the second PC. The fan wrote, “I assume one’s a desktop setup and the other’s a sim rig? Or is Amanda getting involved?” And we won’t say this is a bad guess. If you recall, last season, a mobile game called DRAFTYCAR became wildly popular, and Wallace was hooked. But not just him; even Amanda was addicted.
Remember, Wallace had said, “It’s fun to just be able to escape for however long a race is — what, five minutes? — and enjoy it and see how you can be better than your friends. (Wife) Amanda is playing it and doing it a lot, so it’s cool.” So, clearly, Amanda’s a gaming buff too.
Also, when Wallace found the time earlier, he did a lot of game streaming, and with a setup like this, it would be unfair not to bring back those times. One fan putting in the request wrote, “Sweet! I want to see you streaming again. Had a blast watching those gaming streams!” But he’s ultra-focused on the Cup Series right now. So we don’t think that is happening. And being a new father to a son who’s just a couple of months old, Wallace has his hands full.
Anyway, one fan eventually addressed the elephant in the room, “What games you playing, boss?” Well, there isn’t clarity on this. Maybe the new NASCAR game, which is coming soon, is on his list. Or he could join Dale Jr. for a session of ‘Hell Let Loose.’ What do you think of Wallace’s setup? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
