Dan Lanning’s Oregon Receives Upsetting News on 4-Star Commit as New Intel Reveals B1G Rival’s Agenda

When it comes to recruiting, Dan Lanning is the unbeaten hero. From the early signing day in December to date, the Oregon head coach has relentlessly stockpiled talent on his roster. And he is doing it with integrity, not just the NIL entice. They have made a school record for boarding most of the five-star athletes in the class of 2025. Now, Lanning and his staff have shifted their focus to assembling a strong 2026 recruiting class. It’s already off to a hot start. Lanning has swooped in on nearly 10 commitments in the class so far, leading to the 2026 cycle. However, not everything is as flat as a pancake for the Ducks. One of their prized OT Commits, Kodi Greene, looks heavily unsettled in his words.

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star offensive tackle Kodi Greene is set to take a trip to Southern California on an unofficial visit this weekend (March 29th) and an official one on June 20, as On3’s Hayes Fawcett divulged. With Lincoln Riley and his staff constantly pursuing top-tier talent in the trenches, this visit could be the biggest twist in Greene’s recruitment saga. The 6-foot-6, 310-pounder gave his words to coach Lanning and the Ducks on Aug. 12 last summer. However, the way the new poaching culture takes over, you can’t just sit back and chill. Just gaining an interim commitment is not enough, even if you are a seasoned recruiter like Lanning.

USC is trying to glide into the race hard for over a few months. With coach Zach Hanson taking up the offensive line duties for the Trojans and Chad Bowden and his equipped staff in the front office, the Trojans look more than capable of changing the four-star talent’s mind.

Weighing in on coach Riley’s fate in this business, USCJ Lost In Tha Sauce Podcast host said, “He is the number 25 player overall in the country. He’s ranked the number five offensive tackle in the country. And he’s ranked the number four player in the state of California with a 94 ranking. He is a four-star prospect. He stands at 6’6, 285 lbs.” The supremely talented OT showcased a diverse skill set and tremendous control in pulling and moving. He has all the raw elements to shine as a reliable pass protector over time. Why wouldn’t any top-tier collegiate offense want him on the board?

No reason, absolutely! Capitalizing on that line, the USCJ host continued, “He’s highly sought after by multiple big-time schools. However, you guys know, he is committed to Oregon, and I think he’s the next guy that can possibly commit to decommit from Oregon. Just the same way as Jonas Williams, and he already committed to USC the same way that Tomuhini just de-committed.

Mater Dei defensive tackle Tomuhini Topui decommitted Tuesday, turning Oregon’s 2026 recruiting class into an eight-player hub. The USC Trojans are now the favorite to flip Topui. Just a couple of weeks back, four-star QB Jonas Williams flipped his commitment to USC from Oregon. The USC-Oregon bout is turning red hot! ”He’s (Kodi Greene) trended toward USC multiple crystal balls. I believe that Kodi Green is going to be the next one,’‘ the USCJ host rests his case straight and plain.

But even if Riley managed to swipe another Ducks asset in their 2026 class, let’s not just forget that Oregon is still in the race.

Kodi Greene was super elated about the Oregon’s coaching line

Oregon offered Greene in November 2023. He stepped into Eugene for the first time on Feb. 3 on their Junior Day. After all, what could be a better day to live and feel the Ducks‘ quintessential vibe on campus? It turned out the way the Ducks had chalked out. The fabulous first impression led him on his way to make a final call 6 months later.

“I can’t explain it. On this past visit, something was calling me to commit to Oregon. A few days after I got back home, I made my decision to commit. I thought I would make my decision after my junior season, but the feeling I have about Oregon is different,” the four-star kid articulated his emotion to ON3 at the time of his commitment to the Ducks.

It seems he is equally fond of the culture and coaches inside the school.  “My connection with coach Dan Lanning and coach A’lique Terry was one of the keys to my decision. Who they are, the energy they have, and how they have recruited me stood out to me,” Greene noted.

However, things are not trending well for the Ducks. Riley and Bowden have already gotten a few of their commits. They are the teams battling for the top spot in the 2026 class. It’s only going to get ugly from here on.
