Days After Feeling ‘Rubbish’ Next to Scottie Scheffler, Si Woo Kim’s Speechless Reaction Reveals the Weight of Majors

Those three rounds of the PGA Championships were nothing short of breathtaking. The ones the fans had the most expectations from, failed to show up, while the unexpected ones delivered. Even for the World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler, it was a test of persistence and skills. With his first two rounds of 69 and 68, the New Jersey native stood close to the lead spot but wasn’t entirely confident about the outcome. But he ultimately delivered. Leaving the fans, and a fellow PGA tour golfer, scrambling for words!

Scheffler set the record low with 31 under 253, clinching the title. Si Woo Kim was quick to share his thoughts, “After like seven, like, I feel so poor… I feel like rubbish. I feel like I’m not on the PGA Tour, like, God versus like way bottom, like, all the irons, like, right at the pin I feel like pin’s gonna pull on his ball like this, fishing. He’s a magnet.” His performance earned praise from the entire golf community as he found his rhythm back.

Similarly, after the third round, the golfer, far away from the lead, added -5 in the last five holes to lead the major by three strokes. Now, with his astonishing performance, Woo Kim’s reaction has resurfaced on the internet. Recently, Kyle Porter, the founder of Normal Sports, shared a post on X with a photo of Scheffler writing his scorecard, while Kim is sitting in a statue-like position.

He wrote, “Poor Si Woo doesn’t understand what he just saw.” Kim, placed T5 after three rounds, was left dumbstruck by the performance. Scheffler recorded 8 birdies and an eagle in the first two rounds, but surprisingly, he added 7 birdies and one eagle in the third round itself. The Korean made the longest hole-in-one in the history of the major, but his pairing with the 2x major winner wasn’t the best of memories. The performance led Scheffler to lead the tournament and also left his fellow golfers feeling “rubbish” once again.

Even fans reacted to the post, commenting, “What a flurry to finish. 5 under in the Last 5. Insane,” and “He saw what I call “boring superiority.” He got trucked by a man who meant no harm.” Well, it’s not just fans, but the performance has left the community bringing in his stats at major events and sharing a warning sign for the competitors.

Scottie Scheffler’s performance is a warning

The 28-year-old has led the course with strokes gained off the tee (+2.8), strokes gained approach (+3.3), and 92.9% driving accuracy. In the past, when Scheffler led a major in the final round, it resulted in a Masters triumph in 2022 and 2024. Not just this, but in the past 7 victories, the situation after the third round was similar.

Even for his performance after looking at the stats, former professional and commentator Brandel Chamblee has shared his wishes for fellow golfers. He said, “good luck catching him.” Even Paul McGinley, fellow panelist, and European Ryder Cup-winning captain, said, “He turned on the gas at the right time there.”

Now, with the final 18 holes to come, it will be interesting for the fans and the golf community to see how Scheffler performs in the final round. Are we going to witness back-to-back wins from Scottie Scheffler? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
