A few days ago, Denny Hamlin delighted fans with a heartfelt Instagram video announcing the gender of his soon-to-arrive third child. In the clip, the Hamlin family stands together, and a small pair of blue Nike shoes placed beside them reveals that a baby boy is on the way, all set to the uplifting tune of “Here Comes the Sun.” The understated reveal drew an outpouring of love from the NASCAR community, as supporters celebrated this long-awaited addition to a household after two little girls, Taylor and Molly, had stolen the show over the years.
Recently speaking to the media in Kansas, Hamlin opened up with his trademark humor about what this change means for his family dynamic. As he reflected on the excitement and relief of finally welcoming a baby boy into the house, Hamlin offered candid insights into life off the track and how this new chapter is shifting his perspective.
Denny Hamlin is not the only man of the family anymore…
Denny Hamlin is known for his fierce competitiveness on the track, but at home, he’s a devoted family man. Recently, he shared his excitement about welcoming a baby boy into his family, bringing balance to his household dominated by females. “I had to have it, man. There was just too many women in the house,” he joked to Bob Pockrass, referring to his fiancée, Jordan Fish, and their two daughters.
As the only male in the house (aside from the family dog), Hamlin admitted, “Being the only male in the house other than my dog, I might have had to tap out if we had one more girl.” This trademark Hamlin humor was on full display as he opened up about the much-anticipated arrival of his son. Still, he knows the numbers game isn’t totally in his favor. “Still, going to be outnumbered, but this is so much better actually,” he added, clearly thrilled for the new dynamic.
Naturally, Bob Pockrass then shifted to the obvious question. “Have you been looking for a firesuit for a onesie?” Denny Hamlin laughed and replied, “No, not yet! Again, I am trying to push my kids away from the racing as much as I can.” It looks like baby boy Hamlin might not be strapping into a go-kart anytime soon, at least not if dad has his way.

Hamlin’s daughters, too, have gravitated away from the fast lane and have shown interest in the arts. “The girls, luckily, all they care about is singing, dancing, acting, things like that,” Hamlin explained. His eldest, Taylor, for instance, has wowed audiences with her singing and stage performances. A couple of years ago, she performed a standout rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” that Hamlin and his fiancée proudly shared on social media.
That being said, Denny Hamlin didn’t completely rule out the possibility of his son following in his footsteps. “But the boy, who knows!” he explained. The question now becomes whether the next generation of Hamlin will keep the family name in victory lane or carve a completely different path altogether. Either way, it’s clear that Denny is embracing this new chapter with joy, humor, and just a touch of cautious optimism.
Will Denny Hamlin miss a NASCAR race for his son’s birth?
With Denny Hamlin and his fiancée Jordan Fish expecting their baby boy around June 1, the timing couldn’t be closer to one of NASCAR’s marquee events. The Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway is held annually on Memorial Day weekend, and the couple’s due date falls just days before the Cup Series heads to Nashville on June 1, making the end of May a crucial period for both Hamlin’s family and his racing schedule.
Hamlin addressed the situation candidly on his Actions Detrimental podcast a couple of months ago, saying, “I’ve got another one coming. I’m three-for-three. Another baby. We’re really, really excited. Due June 1st-ish. So, right around Charlotte weekend, hopefully we can get that thing popped out somewhere around then. That’d be great.” His comments reveal both excitement and a bit of nervous anticipation about the timing.
If the baby arrives on schedule, Hamlin may have to make a difficult decision. Race in the Coca-Cola 600, one of the longest and most prestigious events on the calendar. Or head to the hospital to be with his family. Thanks to a recent NASCAR rule change, drivers are now allowed to miss a race for the birth of a child without needing a playoff waiver. This will definitely remove the pressure to choose between family and championship ambitions.
Hamlin has made it clear that if the moment arrives, he’ll prioritize his family and head straight to the hospital. With the Cup Series schedule placing Nashville immediately after Charlotte, any delay could affect his participation in back-to-back races. As the due date approaches, all eyes will be on Hamlin. Will he be in the driver’s seat at Charlotte, or the delivery room welcoming his son?
