There’s no doubt that Dick Vitale knows the ball. After decades of covering the sport, and loving it to death, ESPN’s legendary announcer knows what he’s talking about. However, there’s a reason the playoffs are called the March Madness.
Louisville versus Creighton was always supposed to be a tough matchup, with both teams evenly matched. Some were even questioning the Cardinals’ seeding, calling it too high, but not Dicky-V. The legendary broadcaster was convinced of Louisville’s grit and determination giving them an edge over the Bluejays. Before the matchup, he tweeted in Louisville’s support, naming Chucky Hepburn and Terrence Edwards Jr. as their match-winners. However, that was not to be.
Creighton started with a bang against the higher-seeded Cardinals, taking a 15-point first-half lead. Ashworth, Neal, and Kalkbrenner looked unstoppable on the hardwood floor. Of course, Vitale gave the Bluejays their well-deserved flowers in a new post on X.
The @BluejayMBB with a terrific 1st half especially offensively vs @LouisvilleMBB as they lead Cardinals 49 – 34 ! The @BIGEASTMBB was stronger top to bottom than @accmbb all year but Cards much better than they played in 1st half .
