Dodgers Dave Roberts Drops Major Injury Update on $136.5M Star After Worrying Exit, Reveals When He’ll Play Next

Comebacks are always stronger than setbacks. And that’s exactly what the Los Angeles Dodgers must be telling themselves right now. The team has hit a major roadblock: their $136.5 million star, brought in to solidify the bullpen, suffered an injury during the fifth inning against the Texas Rangers. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has since met with Tyler Glasnow and offered a significant update on his condition. So, when can fans expect Glasnow to return?

After notching six strikeouts through four dominant innings, what started as a stellar outing for Glasnow was abruptly cut short due to calf cramps in the fifth. He exited the game after throwing just one pitch in the inning. However, Roberts delivered a welcome surprise—Glasnow’s injury isn’t serious, and he’s expected to return soon.

Despite the exit from the game against the Texas Rangers, Tyler Glasnow had already done the damage for the Rangers. He delivered the final blow after striking out Josh Jung, the sixth strikeout for him. He managed to throw 53 pitches, allowed three singles, and walked one. Roberts said, “He just seemed uncomfortable trying to find his way through it. He went out there, threw one pitch, and he just couldn’t keep going. A lot of times with the lower half, you don’t want it to bleed into the arm and affect that.

However, the injury is not something critical, and Dave Roberts is quite hopeful that he will not miss much time.

The Dodgers’ manager even shared an update on when he will be back and that he expects him to make the next scheduled start on April 27, when they face the Pittsburgh Pirates. “It looked like he was trying to shake out something. I talked to him after that fourth inning down below. I just said we’ll keep an eye on him.” It’s not the first time something like this happened, as due to right elbow tendinitis, Glasnow didn’t pitch after August 11 in 2024. He was shut down early in Tampa Bay’s season before being traded to the Dodgers later that year.

Given that history, Roberts is understandably cautious. The priority is keeping Tyler Glasnow healthy and ensuring a swift return. But Glasnow isn’t the only player the Dodgers are concerned about—there have been additional injury updates that fans should know.

Dodgers manager gives a disappointing injury update

If Glasnow’s injury wasn’t bad enough, the Dodgers are now facing another wave of concerns. While the team continues to post wins, the lineup is being tested by a growing list of injuries. Due to an issue with his shoulder, Blake Snell, one of their best pitchers, is still listed as injured. Their 36-year-old Blake Treinen was unable to play in Sunday’s game against the Texas Rangers due to his placement on the injury list. But what’s more concerning is the update given by Dave Roberts.

Following a series of tests, Roberts revealed a concerning update on Treinen: “An exam on Blake Treinen yesterday revealed a low-grade forearm sprain. He’s heading back to L.A. for further evaluation. There’s no timeline for his return.” A clear indication that he will not be back soon. Although the Dodgers haven’t had much trouble closing on the series, they are very dependent on Shohei Ohtani and others to continue their good form throughout the series.
