No, Raven Johnson and Anthony Edwards have never dated. In fact, the 23-year-old Minnesota Timberwolves star has been in a public relationship with his girlfriend, Shannon, since 2020. The couple even shares a daughter, Aislynn, who was born back in March 2024. As for Raven Johnson and Anthony Edwards, their bond is based on a foundation of long-term friendship and classy/memorable gestures.
In a May 2024 interview with The Players’ Tribune, Raven Johnson revealed that she and Anthony Edwards “go way back”. The duo has good memories of playing 1-on-1 games during their high school days. Looking back at a certain game from when she was in 9th grade, Johnson recalled, “I remember going one-on-one with Anthony in a training session and he was treating me like a little boy, and I was like ‘Oh my God, go, like I’m a girl.’ And I was like, I think I was like ninth-grade high school, like, ‘this man trying to go with me he’s pushing me,’ and I tell everybody to this day that I beat him; I would never tell nobody he beat me.”

I taught him everything he knew. Well, he gotta, he gotta work on his defense just a little, so I need to know some stuff on that with him. But yeah, that’s my son.” Johnson’s remarks would have been payback for when Edwards wrote “Proud of my daughter @HollywoodRaven” on X after Johnson won the National Championship back in April 2024. However, the NBA star only had the last word in this back-to-back banter. Back in early February 2025, he posted a picture of Raven Johnson on his Instagram story and wrote “Proud father”.

The humorous shout-outs are one thing. Anthony Edwards also serves as a guiding voice for the college player when she needs it. Fans might remember that viral moment from the 2023 Final Four when Caitlin Clark ‘waived off’ Johnson while the latter was attempting a shot. Later, the Gamecocks star revealed that she did a ton of behind-the-scenes work to pick herself up after that moment. This also involved taking some advice from her childhood friend.
“He basically told me to use it as fuel to sharpen my game. I remember he was like, “Don’t let this bring you down. You know who you are, so you can’t let this situation change you. You need to get in the gym and work on your weaknesses. Nothing’s going to be handed to you. You just need to get in the gym and do what others don’t do,” Johnson recalled. “He’s always been someone I’ve looked to, to hold me accountable, on and off the court. He was even telling me to log out of my social media, which was hard to do.”
