Drama Awaits as Cam Ward & Shedeur Sanders Seek Same $7.3B NFL Franchise; Confirmed After Coach Prime’s Message

The excitement meter for the 2025 NFL Draft is climbing daily. And right smack in the middle of it all is Shedeur Sanders—the one player who is always in the limelight no matter for good or bad reasons. His draft stock’s been wild—one day he’s a potential QB1, the next, he’s slipping to QB2. But then Cam Ward enters the chat. The Miami Hurricanes QB’s been stealing the QB1 spotlight lately, and it’s not just his skills talking. The banter between these two friends? Legendary.

Ward’s out there claiming himself as a “generational talent,” and Shedeur is hitting back with, “You’re generational. I’m legendary.” Now, this whole fun ‘generational’ vs. ‘legendary’ thing? It’s turned into a real tug-of-war as it turns out, both these guys are linked to the same $7.3 billion NFL franchise.

Cam Ward’s confidence shot up with his heroic Pro Day feat

The 2025 NFL Draft scene is reigned by a popular narrative. The Cam Ward vs. Shedeur Sanders debate. Even though initially the Buffs QB came off as a hot target, he started to lose his charm with some revelations. That was Ward’s turn to cash in the golden ticket. Do you remember the NFL Rookie Watch’s post? It read, “Shedeur Sanders is reportedly being placed behind Cam Ward on several team’s boards now due to ‘off-the-field/attitude’ concerns.” The NFL scouts showed more interest in Ward, whose life revolves around football. On the contrary, Shedeur had multiple priorities-—football and rapping. Plus his off-field antics, like his fiery attitude and watch flexing, came off as “red flags.” Now came the Pro Day, and Ward made the most out of it to soar even higher.

For 45 minutes, Ward demonstrated power, precision, and versatility, throwing short passes, deep bombs, tight slants, and sideline lasers. His arms did all the talking, showing flexibility and athleticism. In a memorable finale, Ward executed a trick play, catching a touchdown pass from wide receiver Xavier Restrepo. After his heroic feat, quite naturally he was swarmed by the reporters.

On March 24, Giants beat writer Paul Schwartz shared a clip from Ward’s interview where the QB shared, “I have seen a couple of them, ‘hopefuls.’ It was a good crowd, for sure.” The caption read, “Cam Ward said he saw a few hopefuls watching him during his Pro Day today. The Giants were one of those hopeful teams.” At the same time, the New York Giants got all the spotlight in Deion Sanders’ speech.

Speaking at ProMat 2025, Deion was asked where he hopes his son lands. “We are hoping for New York,” Shedeur’s dad sounded all confident. Well, Jets or Giants? The $7.3 billion Giants, holding the No. 3 pick, are probably the most resounding option to snag the top QB.

Yes, we know how in Ward’s case the admission came from the Miami QB, while Shedeur had kept tight-lipped about his interest in the Giants. But we know how much Coach Prime is protective of his sons. Remember when he said he made a list for Shedeur, cutting out ‘certain teams’ he shouldn’t land with? So, we can definitely count on Deion’s words as Shedeur’s. Now will Ward’s pro day leave Shedeur in the backseat?

Cam Ward or Shedeur Sandersa tough choice for the Giants

On March 24, the Giants’ brass rolled deep to the University of Miami to watch Ward in action at his Pro Day. General manager Joe Schoen, assistant GM Brandon Brown, director of player personnel Tim McDonnell, and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka were all there. No question—the Giants are QB hunting. They came into the offseason aiming to grab a veteran bridge quarterback and a rookie who could grow into their franchise guy.

They waited patiently for Aaron Rodgers. That didn’t happen. So they pivoted, signing Jameis Winston to an $8 million deal to be the veteran presence. But after watching Ward’s Pro Day, there’s no doubt they’re feeling a little FOMO too.

Meanwhile, the Titans—holding the No. 1 overall pick—are widely expected to go all in on a quarterback. And if they stay put, that quarterback is probably going to be Cam Ward. Tennessee needs a leader under center, and Ward is currently the best fit. But here’s the twist: Titans GM Mike Borgonzi might have eyes on a different kind of talent. If he falls in love with Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter, he could trade out of the top spot.

And that’s where the Giants come in. They’re sitting at No. 3, and according to SNY, Tennessee’s asking price around the Combine was a first-round pick swap and two third-rounders. So… does Schoen roll the dice?

It’s risky. If Ward doesn’t become a Jayden Daniels or CJ Stroud-level star, giving up all that draft capital could backfire in a big way. Some say the safer bet is to go after Russell Wilson. But others, like analyst RJ Young, think Shedeur Sanders is the guy. “Shedeur Sanders is bringing attention to your franchise. Shedeur Sanders is bringing star power to your franchise and it’s the kind you want.”

And now, with Giants head coach Brian Daboll noticeably skipping Ward’s Pro Day… is that a quiet hint? Maybe. And if it is, Cam Ward might have just gotten something new to worry about.
