‘Dropped This on Me’: Jim Nantz Opens Up About Replacing Former President in Surprising New Role

More than two decades after he began with the iconic “Hello, friends,” the legendary caller Jim Nantz finally has a new calling. Sure, this new beginning is not as much related to golf as one would expect; however, it is both essential and moving in the golf world. So, what is it? First Tee, a youth development organization that helps children develop character through golf, made a significant announcement while celebrating First Tee Week across the country. This campaign honors coaches and highlights their influence on participants and their communities. The announcement revealed that renowned CBS Sports broadcaster Jim Nantz will serve as the new honorary chair.

Naturally, this decision takes into account Jim Nantz’s position, experience, and reputation in the sports industry. With a distinguished broadcasting career that has lasted over four decades, Nantz becomes the third honorary chair in First Tee’s history, succeeding President George W. Bush (2011-2024) and President George H.W. Bush (1997-2010). In his role as honorary chair, Nantz will assist in promoting First Tee’s mission and increasing its impact to empower more young individuals.

Talking about the same and how quickly it came, an elated Jim Nantz said, “Lo and behold, they dropped this on me.”

First Tee went looking for a new national chair to follow in the footsteps of Bush 41 and 43 and Bush 43 had the perfect person to assume the role — story here:https://t.co/3JCeBowoRp
