“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” And if there’s one guy who’s living by that, it’s Dwight Howard. Just got inducted as the 13th member of the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame. A huge moment, right? But before the confetti could even settle, he is already making headlines again. And for the record, this time it’s not about adding another accolade to his name. It’s about helping out the ones who’ve got that same fire in them. So, what’s Howard up to now?
Howard had played in the T1 League in Taiwan for Taoyuan Leopards and is now with the Puerto Rico’s Baloncesto Superior Nacional. But now that he is getting his name on the HOF list, there is a high possibility for him to return to the NBA. And honestly? It wouldn’t be a shocker. After all, Howard himself skipped college and jumped straight into the NBA as the No. 1 overall pick in 2004. Dude was basically a raw gem, polished in real time under the league’s brightest lights. And now? He’s flipping the script and offering that same shot to the next generation, who’s got what it takes to rise to the top.
In his latest X post, Dwight Howard just dropped some game-changing news for young hoopers. He wrote, “It’s about time to start recruiting so I’m doing a draft for my league sometime in April where I’ll be inviting top hoopers that graduated fromHighschool, Juco, and 4 year universities to tryout and run for the chance to play professionally overseas.” Yeah, you read that right. Howard is literally handpicking 4 to 6 young, hungry talents and handing them pro contracts. Say what you want about the guy, but he is really doing some good deeds. Howard and Shaquille O’Neal may have their beef, but one thing they both have in common is that they believe in giving back.

Going to be giving out…

In his post, Howard made it clear that if you’re an unseasoned player with that fire in your eyes, this is your shot. He even told his followers, “If you think you got what it takes to play professionally overseas or know someone comment & tag them”. Man’s really out here building the next wave. Respect Man!
Dwight Howard’s advice to his 19 years old self
Dwight Howard, an 8× NBA All-Star, 3× Defensive Player of the Year, NBA champion, and soon-to-be Hall of Famer. The dude was literally called Superman on the court. But let’s be real, the journey wasn’t all smooth sailing. Now at 39, he’s been through it all, the highs, the lows, and everything in between. But what if he could hop in a time machine and drop some wisdom on his 19-year-old self? What would he say?
That exact question came up when Etan Thomas hit him with it on The Rematch podcast. And Howard? He didn’t overthink it and went on to answer. “I would just say, ‘Stay locked in.’’ He explained: “It’s easy to get to the top and lose focus because you got everybody telling you how great you are. And I just would tell myself, ‘Don’t get comfortable, stay locked in, stay focused on the mission,’ and, ‘Enjoy it. Enjoy the moments.”
Man, that’s real. So many players get caught up in the hype and forget the grind that got them there. But Howard knows that staying locked in is what separates the good from the great, the players from the legends. And now, with his Hall of Fame nod and his mission to help the next generation, it’s clear that the superman isn’t done flying.
