Eli Manning Confirms Brutal Treatment by Brother Peyton Days After Sly Remark on Ex-Broncos QB’s Special Day

Brothers will be brothers! The playful sibling rivalries don’t ever fade away, even when both brothers have multiple Super Bowl rings. And, on the occasion of Siblings Day, the Manning brothers have proved it. It was evident from the clip that Peyton Manning recently posted on his Instagram handle, revisiting their appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! As Peyton and Eli Manning appeared as guest commentators, they maintained their signature playful banter. And Eli confirmed how Peyton’s “mentorship” often crossed into brutal treatment.

As seen in the clip, the conversation kicked off when Jimmy Kimmel asked Eli and Peyton a simple question, “Which sibling loves the other more?” It was on the sets of Monday Night Football’s ManningCast (Week 5). Peyton Manning shared the clip with the caption, “Thanks to @jimmykimmel for helping me remind @elimanning of how well I prepared him for his career. Happy National Siblings Day.”

In the video, Peyton quickly responded to Jimmy’s question, “Oh, that’s easy. Eli, he loves me. He loves me more.” He further adds that Eli appreciated him when, “I had to take him to school, I had to tuck him in at night.”

But Eli wasn’t buying it. Instead, he fired back, remarking, “You abused me. You mentally and physically abused me as a kid. I had bruises.” With a mix of intense humor, Eli recounted his childhood experiences as he was subjected to Peyton’s “training methods.” Peyton didn’t deny it. Instead, he retorted with, “I got you prepared for New York is what I did.”

Eli, however, had much more to add. He remarks, “In the middle of summer, when I’m 12 years old, he’d make me go run routes for him.” And Peyton threw the ball so hard that Eli said, “I would have bruises up and down my arms.”

But Peyton didn’t stop. Eli told how Peyton found a way to mitigate the damage, “So then he put me in sweatpants and a sweatshirt, it’s 185 degrees outside,” Eli recalled. He even used the Michelin Man training method on Eli, as he “put pillows up and down my whole body and arms.” Peyton claims this harsh training made Eli what he is today, in a classic brotherly fashion, “You should thank me for it. You should thank me for it.

Eli, unimpressed, ends the segment saying, “Yeah, that did not make me better at anything.” Despite the sibling torment, the Manning brothers share an inseparable bond.

Eli Manning humbles Peyton Manning on his special day

The former New York Giants QB expanded the siblings’ rivalry, as he used Peyton’s birthday as a launchpad. Eli Manning trolled him by posting a childhood throwback photo with Peyton and their older brother, Cooper. The caption had a hint of sarcasm in it, “Happy birthday to ‘cool guy’ Peyton!” And the fans knew that no one humbles Peyton quite like his younger brother.

There are other instances of the brotherly banter. Eli also once recalled the infamous “Atomic Wedgie” incident during a golf trip. Peyton, trying to take a nap, was bothered by Eli, as Peyton recalled, “he kind of had me leveraged into the wall and he gave me a wedgie. He almost went atomic with it.

Eli immediately corrected him, saying, “It was atomic. Over the head.” Peyton admitted he was angry, not because of the pain, but, as he adds, “I was about to be asleep. I was so angry, basically because the nap was interrupted, but the atomic wedgie was like an added bonus.” Adding insult to injury, Eli revealed that he also destroyed Peyton’s prized possessions. He states, “He said those were his favorite underwear that I ripped and that’s what he was mad about.” Besides the brotherly banter, Eli is also working his way through to buy a minority stake in the New York Giants. Hence, he looks forward to transitioning from being a franchise QB to part-owner.
