ESPN Reporter Concedes Defeat to Angry Knicks Fans After Brian Windhorst & Pat McAfee Caught in Crossfire

The New York Knicks have Brian Windhorst and his team eating their words. The Celtics and Cavs ended top 2 in the East for a reason. And there’s no chance the former was losing to a team that has more seasons away from the ECF than the Celtics have rings. But to be honest, everyone loves an underdog story. And New York and Indiana are providing us with box office performances.

Two weeks ago, The Hoop Collective bet their mortgage on the Knicks losing to the Celtics. But now, they accept their homelessness with pride.

You can’t really blame Tim Bontemps or Windy for what they said though. Even die-hard Knicks fans didn’t expect them to win 4-2, with Game 6 being in blowout fashion. When they were 2-0 up, Tim didn’t even believe in them getting it over the line. “Nope. No chance at all,” said Tim to Get Up ESPN. And how did that prediction yield? A topsy-turvy series that ended with Jayson Tatum out for the foreseeable future, and New York reaching their first ECF in 25 years.

The ESPN analyst might get a few wrong here and there, but he’s mature enough to accept it. In fact, this is the part of his job that he loves. “Ha. I take it as a compliment that people care what my opinion is. The fun of the job is having opinions on what will happen, and then seeing how it plays out. If you’re wrong, it gives you a chance to learn something. And Knicks-Pacers should be an awesome series,” said Bontemps on X.

Mind you that he wasn’t the only one of the Collective who predicted this. The creator joins that hypetrain. So when Brian Windhorst made his comments as well, the New Yorkers made sure to ream him for it.

Brian Windhorst and Pat McAfee caught in Tim Bontemps’ crossfire

“Thanks to Jackson and Zach, our producers, who came here to the Garden tonight and are going out to humanity. I’m just walking to my hotel, I’ll be fine,” said Windy on ESPN, unbeknownst of the viral interaction yet to come. He was one of those media people who were on Celtics’ side. But then he proceeded to get heckled by a Knicks fan on the way to said hotel.

“How do you feel about Boston losing?” When Brian Windhorst started to answer calmly, the fan interrupted, unleashing a profanity-laced tirade: “I don’t give a f**k. Knicks in 6, p***y. Talk all that s**t now!” For sure, Windy’s comments came to life a little after Boston cut down New York’s lead to 3-2 in Game 5. And that came without Jayson Tatum. But little did they know – Game 6 was about to be a nightmare.

Bontemps is right about one thing though. The Knicks-Pacers series will be one to watch. ESPN analysts like Brian Windhorst might’ve been off about New York getting it over the line against Beantown. For their sake, let’s hope they’re on the right side this time, with the Knicks heading into the ECF with home court advantage.
