It seems things are about to heat up in Phoenix. And no, we’re not talking about the impending spring. This is about Kevin Durant and his future with the Phoenix Suns. And an NBA insider thinks that we are in for a massive shakeup! This can of worms opened after KD appeared on Draymond Green’s podcast to discuss his future.
ESPN’s Ian Begley revealed that Nico Harrison and the Dallas Mavericks really want to sign Kevin Durant. “I was told that the Mavericks were very aggressive… trying to find other teams to get involved so they could make the math work and bring Kevin Durant to Dallas,” Begley reported this right as the trade deadline came to a close.
Obviously, no such move materialized.

However, Brian Windhorst’s latest words have added new fuel to the rumor. “Well, they’re [Phoenix Suns] going to trade him and he knows that…And then in the off-season, he sort of gave himself a little ad there. He’s like, whatever team gets me, you know, I’m going to make a difference. I’m still in my prime. So I think he’s handled this very appropriately,” said Windy on NBA Today.
With the Suns not even guaranteed a spot in the play-in, it’s clear that the Big 3 experiment involving KD, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal has failed. So it’s in all parties’ best interests to cut their losses. Windy’s co-host and NBA legend Kendrick Perkins agrees with this sentiment.
“They trash. They have no leadership. And they’re just riding it out for guys to go their separate ways…You got to go ahead. Like Wendy said, they’re going to trade KD. Good for KD. Good for the organization that’s going to get KD,” said Perkins.
