It was not just Shedeur Sanders who fell victim to a prank call while awaiting his name to be announced. A lot of other prospects were the victims of prank calls as well. Colts‘ 14th overall pick Tyler Warren, Eagles‘ last-round pick Kyle McCord, and Bills‘ last-round pick Chase Lundt, also fell prey to pranksters during the three-day draft. And now Texas WR Isaiah Bond has joined the list.
Isaiah Bond, a highly anticipated prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft, went undrafted despite several mock drafts predicting him as a potential first-round pick. The 21-year-old receiver has yet to be approached by any team as an undrafted free agent. But, a recent prank caught the attention of fans when Dov Kleiman posted a video on X. In the video, someone impersonating Atlanta Falcons GM Terry Fontenot called Bond. The conversation begins with, “Isaiah. What’s going on?” Bond responds, “It’s going good right now. How about yourself?“
The voice on the other end then says, “It’s Terry from the Atlanta Falcons.” Bond, excited and thinking it’s finally his moment, replies, “Yes, sir. Nice to meet you.” The caller continues, trying hard to hold back laughter, “I’m going to give the phone to Arthur Blank right now, but we’re going to put the pick in.“
Awful: An Alabama fan called Texas WR Isaiah Bond during the draft, pretending to be the Falcons and claimed they were drafting him.
These aren’t ‘pranks’; they are cruel.

Excitedly, Bond says, “That’s good news, you’re getting a baller, there’s no doubt, I’m coming to work.” The prankster then hangs up, laughing uncontrollably, leaving Isaiah Bond clueless about the trick. Analysts and players across the league have strongly condemned these prank calls. And, like always, fans remain divided. While some are vocally calling out the pranksters for their disrespectful behavior, others respond with sarcasm or seem largely unaffected.
A split opinion: How fans are reacting to prank calls in the draft
At this point, some fans are brushing off the prank call incidents as just another part of the draft drama. One user pointed out the fact that athletes earn tons of money, writing, “These athletes will make more in a year than most of us make in our lifetime. They’ll survive a little prank.” Another user commented on this, saying, “Isaiah won’t because he will be in prison.” Isaiah allegedly faces accusations of s—-l assault.
On April 10, the 21-year-old turned himself in after the Frisco (Texas) Police Department issued a s—-l assault warrant. The WR posted bail and was released. Isaiah Bond has denied the allegations, claiming it was a “consensual s—-l encounter.” This could potentially be one of the reasons he went undrafted.
In the midst of all this, one user added a sarcastic comment, saying, “Hey, someone also prank called me yesterday telling me I was drafted by the Jets. I took it seriously and joined the Church of Latter-Day Saints to get out of it, not knowing it was just my idiot neighbor pretending to be Darren Mougey.” Another comment read, “Million dollar babies who have been babied their entire life shouldn’t be treated like this, they shouldn’t be pranked!! Jesus Christ ,dude, stop treating athletes like gods.“
Another user dismisses the seriousness of the situation, while asking people to stop glorifying celebrities and athletes: “It’s a prank… That’s it… If that offended you, you have a lot of growing up to do… Also, stop sucking off celebrities and sports [foot]ball players.“
All in all, the prank call incidents involving Isaiah Bond and other NFL prospects have sparked mixed reactions. While some fans view it as a harmless joke, others worry about the implications for players’ privacy and safety. What do you think, harmless fun or a serious breach of privacy? Share your thoughts.
