He took to X on April 26 and vented his frustration. While bringing out the old grudges, he wrote, “How t- Dan Quinn and Kyle Shanahan still have a job and I don’t? ” It’s natural. The athlete became the highest-paid running back with a 5-year, $41.25 million contract extension in 2017.
However, his run was short-lived. While the knee injuries kept Devonta Freeman out of most of the 2018 season as he played only 2 games, the anger issues also popped up in 2019 when he was ejected for throwing a punch at the Rams legend, Aaron Donald. Although he doesn’t think that these matters are serious, the league has contrasting views.

The Falcons released him in 2020 as he signed a 1-year, $3 million contract with the New York Giants. It was the last year of Dan Quinn as the Falcons’ head coach. When asked about the running back, he didn’t show a lot of confidence. One more year with the Ravens in 2021, and he never got a chance to play in the league again. That’s a summer version of his NFL career. But such mistakes make an everlasting impression. The franchise has never played a Super Bowl again and still awaits a trophy.
On the other hand, Dan Quinn took the Commanders to the NFC Championship with a rookie QB, Jayden Daniels, last season. Kyle Shanahan led the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, one year before that. So, they have shown their fair share of talent. And now, the fans reminded the running back about it in the comments section.

The Dirty Birds are still angry about the Super Bowl LI loss. One fan bashed Devonta Freeman for not being serious ever about his mistake and commented, “You cost us a superbowl ring, you think you deserve a job?” But another fan answered the question with a reason. It might not be the only one, but it is the most important by far. The person mentioned, “You didn’t pick up the most important block of your life, my dude. That’s probably why.”
“Dan Quinn just took the worst team in the NFL to the playoffs in one year. Stop asking dumb questions,” another fan reminded him of the NFL head coach. This also answered his question. But the RB has to get serious if he wants to make a comeback. Although a return at the age of 33 years is like a daydream. But one must always be ready for surprises in the ultra-competitive league.
