Ex-UFC Legend Reveals What ‘Ruined’ His Relationship With Dana White as Arman Tsarukyan Gets a Tip

Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson is one of the OG superstars of the MMA world, having been the first MMA star to really break into mainstream popularity in the pre-Conor McGregor days. With his raw intensity, larger-than-life charisma, and irreverent sense of humor, ‘Rampage’ was destined to work in many movies and films.

Even today, long since retired from MMA, the American remains one of the most popular personalities in the MMA world. The veteran, of course, had two stints in the UFC, during which his relationship with UFC boss Dana White and co. deteriorated to the point he had to finish his career in Bellator. And according to Rampage Jackson, there is one factor that led to his fallout with Dana White and leaving the UFC on acrimonious terms in 2015.

“You can’t take it personal. That’s what I did wrong, that’s why I ruined my relationship with Dana, because when they f—ed with me and stuff like that, I took it personal. The UFC is like their baby, and even though now they have like big companies owning it and stuff, you got to look at just business, and I don’t take it personal,” Jackson said.

“Because when you take it personal, you’re going to say stuff personal to them, and then you going to have a bad relationship with them. So TJ got a point there, I did it wrong, I took it personal,” ‘Rampage’ told UFC stars TJ Dillashaw and Arman Tsarukyan on his ‘JAXXON’ podcast. And Tsarukyan would do well to listen to the advice from the veteran since he is not in the UFC CEO’s best graces at the moment.

Why Dana White does not like Arman Tsarukyan at the moment

Arman Tsarukyan was just hours away from getting everything he worked for in his life. The Armenian lightweight star, of course, was set to face lightweight champion Islam Makhachev atop the UFC 311 card in January this year. However, Tsarukyan pulled out at the last minute, allegedly due a back injury, and had to be replaced by Renato Moicano on a couple days’ notice.

And UFC CEO Dana White was absolutely livid with Tsarukyan. At the post-UFC 311 presser, White told reporters bluntly that Tsarukyan would going back to the drawing board and probably not fighting for the title until at least next year. Which is why he was not chosen to fight Ilia Topuria for the lightweight title at UFC 317, despite Tsarukyan being ranked #1 in the division.

So Tsarukyan may be harboring some negative feelings towards Dana White and co., and may feel personally aggrieved by the promotion at the moment. And Jackson’s advice for him is to not take anything personally. Just develop a thick skin, do the right things, and hope to make another push for the title. Giving attitude to his employers or trying to fight them may not go his way, according to the veteran. What do you think about ‘Rampage’ Jackson’s revelations about why his relationship with Dana White deteriorated?
