Exchanging Words With Donald Trump, Conor McGregor Drops Bombshell Update Concerning American President

It’s no secret that Conor McGregor wants to run for President of Ireland. But his public image being in shambles over the last few months does not help this dream. Do you know what would help though? A few words of praise from the most powerful political leader in the world – the POTUS Donald Trump! And according to McGregor’s latest revelation, the pair might be in to exchange more than just pleasantries.

President Trump and McGregor go a little ways back. Both of them often had words of praise for each other. And as St. Patrick’s Day inched closer, Trump got himself involved with some of the big names from Ireland. Take his meeting with the Teachta Dala of Ireland, Michael Martin, for example. That was when the POTUS expressed how amazed he was with the strength of the Irish people. He further went on to claim that Conor McGregor was his favorite Irishman. Needless to say, ‘The Notorious’ was deliriously happy with the shoutout from Trump. But now, things leaned a bit more toward the political aspect with McGregor marching the Presidential path.

On March 16, 2025, the former UFC double champion took to X and made a stand against the Irish judiciary system. It was in response to a tweet questioning the government about a serious and dangerous criminal. McGregor wrote, “Our judiciary needs a full redress! The current system is actively giving leeway to dangerously imported criminals who have inflicted serious life altering harm upon citizens of Ireland. It is an absolute travesty! Sentencing should never be reduced for an illegally imported criminal just because prison time in an Irish jail will be “difficult for them”. Our systems need full change!” But how did he plan on making such a massive change?

That’s where the POTUS swooped in. On the occasion of St. Patrick’s Day, ‘The Notorious’ would be in Trump’s company. And yes, the duo would meet at the Oval Office in the White House. ‘Mystic Mac’ ended his tweet with, “President @realDonaldTrump I depart for Washington today with my family, I look very forward to our meeting tomorrow on St Patrick’s Day at the Oval Office. I AM READY! God speed.” But this was not before he asked his countrymen to cast their votes in his name. Of course, getting to talk with the American President at the Oval Office is a dream for many. And with McGregor hoping to become the next Irish President, this meeting on 17 March 2025 can be expected to be highly political.

But do you know what Donald Trump said about Conor McGregor during his meeting with Michael Martin? Well, he provided some praise for the Irish athletes’ strength and McGregor found his way into the conversation. Being an avid fan of the UFC and a close friend to Dana White, Trump’s soft spot for McGregor wasn’t something new. Let’s see what the POTUS had to say, and how the Irish fighter responded to that.

Conor McGregor couldn’t control his pride as Donald Trump praised him in the Oval Office

During the Oval Office meeting with Martin, a reporter asked Trump about his favorite Irish person. The POTUS replied, “Well, I do happen to like your fighter; he’s got the best tattoos I’ve ever seen. Conor’s great, right? I’m talking about Conor. But you have a lot of great Irish fighters, actually. Great fighters.” When ‘Mystic Mac’ came across Trump’s words through Bo Loudon’s Instagram profile, he reacted to it with a red heart emoji.

It didn’t take long for Trump’s words about McGregor to go viral on the internet. And when ‘The Notorious’ came across that for a second time, he decided to show some gratitude for the kind words. He took to Instagram and reshared the post on his IG Story. In the caption, McGregor wrote, “Thank you President Trump.” This was followed by a shamrock and a praying hands emoji.

The Irish fighter has often kept the POTUS on a high pedestal. Well, except for the one time when Trump claimed that his favorite fighter was Khabib Nurmagomedov. McGregor was definitely not happy about that. But he was truly amazed at how a 78-year-old multibillionaire was willing to take a stand for his country. Even bullets grazing past him failed to derail Trump’s Presidential train. And that greatly impressed McGregor. With a meeting set for the Oval Office, things are destined to become interesting for the Irishman.
