Exclusive: ‘Crying… Called My Mom’: Grace Charis Reveals Unexpected Emotional Moment During US Open Visit

A hole in one! Yes, that’s the topic of discussion in this one. A hole in one holds a special place in every golfer’s life, and we recently witnessed the same with Tiger Woods and his son Charlie Woods. Charlie, making his mark in the golf world, achieved his first-ever hole-in-one on the fourth hole of the par-3 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, on December 22, 2024, during the PNC Championship. But Charlie’s not the only one who’s experienced the thrill of the first hole-in-one.

In an exclusive interview with Andrew Whitelaw of Essentially Sports, golf influencer Grace Charis talked about her first hole-in-one, among many things, and shared a heartwarming and unexpected emotional moment that occurred during her visit to the US Open in North Carolina. Paige Spiranac’s internet rival revealed that she had taken a day off from watching the tournament to play golf with her friend, Daniel, at a nearby club. As they played, Charis was struck by the beauty of the course, which reminded her of Augusta. She was particularly captivated by one hole, which she described as “so pretty.” “It looked like Augusta to me,” Charis said, recalling her first impression of the course.

As Charis attempted to sink a shot on that hole, her friend Daniel captured the moment on video. “I’m trying here. I was trying really hard to, like, get inside of him, and then he videos me cause I videoed him, mine goes in, and I didn’t see it go in, and he was like, ‘oh my god, ‘” Charis recalled, still beaming with pride. In an incredible twist, Charis’s shot went in, scoring a hole-in-one. Overcome with emotion, Charis burst into tears and immediately called her mom to share the exciting news. “I ended up crying everywhere, I called my mom, I was like, ‘Mom, I made a hole-in-one!’” Charis recalled, still beaming with pride. It was truly an “oh my god” moment for Grace, as Daniel had exactly exclaimed!

“He puts it to 5T, and I was like, okay, like I’m going to, like I’m trying here,” Charis said, describing the moment just before she made the shot. Well, as special as that moment was for her and her fans, many might be surprised to know that Charis wasn’t always a golf enthusiast.

Why did Grace Charis start playing golf?

Golf influencer Grace Charis has revealed that she initially took up the sport as a means to gain more views and attention on social media. In an interview, Charis stated, “I wasn’t trying to be a golfer. It was more about trying to get views and be in the creator’s space.” Charis, who has amassed a significant following on Instagram and TikTok, began posting golf-related content as a way to increase her online presence. However, she has since developed a genuine interest in the sport and has been working to improve her skills. Charis has achieved a notable 5 handicap and has expressed her desire to be taken seriously as a golfer. Her journey from social media influencer to serious golfer is a fascinating one, and it’s clear that Charis is dedicated to proving herself in the golfing world.

Charis’s determination to improve her game and earn credibility as a golfer is admirable, and her progress so far has been impressive. “I’m trying to get better because a lot of people see me as just some online chick that’s trying to make money and sell things,” Charis said. “I’m not seen as a golfer, but I’m edging my way into that by being good at golf and posting videos of great shots.” Apart from the ace shot, she had also shot a 76  at the Tension Park Club Championship. With her hard work and dedication, Charis is slowly but surely changing the way people perceive her – from just a social media influencer to a talented and serious golfer.
