CBS Sports writer wasn’t really sold on the Sooners’ tournament credentials, which is why his recent bracket projections didn’t include OU. But this recent game could have made the difference. However, the UK, ranked No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 17 in the AP Top 25, didn’t let that happen. The Wildcats knocked off the Sooners with an 83-82 victory on Wednesday night. However, it wasn’t just the win—Brandon Garrison had fans talking in the comment section.

What was expected to be a tough showdown turned into a battle against Oklahoma’s home crowd. The audience made it extremely difficult for the players to perform. Loud boos became part of the game, especially during introductions. As if that wasn’t enough, at one point, Oklahoma students called Oweh a “traitor” as he stood at the free-throw line.

But it didn’t faze the guard, who made a significant 18-point contribution to the team’s total. Though he wasn’t the only target, as the team left after their win, the crowd’s attention turned toward Garrison, an Oklahoma State transfer from the city.

Not only that, but someone even threw a beer can that nearly hit Garrison in the head.

Not only that, but someone even threw a beer can that nearly hit Garrison in the head. All this frustration stemmed from Kentucky walking away with a win, especially since KU entered the night with just a 2-6 record. However, KU fans didn’t hold back either, immediately storming the comment section in defense of the Wildcats.

Despite familiar faces, Oklahoma fans fire back at Wildcats’ roster.

As expected, the agitation among spectators after Garrison’s heated reception was evident in the comment section. One fan couldn’t hold back their excitement for his performance, even comparing him to a Kentucky legend: “I love Brandon Garrison. He reminds me so much of DeMarcus Cousins.”

And honestly, Oklahoma’s reaction made some sense. While Garrison is an Oklahoma native, Oweh played for the state’s flagship school for the past two seasons.

On Wednesday night, the pair returned to the Sooner State for the first time wearing Kentucky’s blue uniforms. Fans knew that without them, the Wildcats would have departed with yet another loss in their luggage on the way back to Lexington. But that wasn’t the case.

“OU fans? Not shocked…” penned one spectator.

It was both former Oklahoma stars combining for 40 points to help the Wildcats escape with a victory at the Lloyd Noble Center. No doubt both were dominant, but Oweh stood out slightly more. He poured in a game-high 28 points, doing most of his damage in the final 20 minutes.

Impressive, right? But can you believe he had just five points in the first half before exploding for 23 in the second? As if that wasn’t enough, he also contributed six rebounds, a steal, and a block. “CRY ABOUT IT, OKLAHOMA. OTEGA OWEH IS YOUR NEW GOVERNOR,” added a spectator.

Garrison, on the other hand, finished with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting. His impact wasn’t limited to scoring—he also added four rebounds, three blocks, and three steals.

“Typical OU. Doesn’t help that Garrison is a former Oklahoma State player,” commented another user.

More importantly, his final rejection was a highlight moment. He stuffed an attempt by Jeremiah Fears as time expired, sealing Kentucky’s win. His efforts made an impact, but unfortunately, they also provoked an unacceptable reaction from the audience. “Hey @SEC, how much is the fine that gets paid to UK for throwing a can at our players as they leave the court?” one user asked.

“The person who tossed that needs to be arrested,” another penned.

Now, the Wildcats stand seventh in the SEC with a 19-9 overall record. Before their March Madness run, the team has three games lined up, two of them against ranked opponents. What do you think? Will the Wildcats be able to claim another win, especially against No. 1 Auburn?
