Fact Check: Is Donald Trump Attending Tiger Woods’s TGL Amid PGA Tour-LIV Golf Merger Talks?

Tiger Woods and Donald Trump respect each other. In 2021, Trump said, “As a golfer, he’s just incredible. He’s an incredible guy.” Woods has also been praising the POTUS, and recently, after the PGA Tour met with Trump to speed up the $3B merger, he could not help but say many good things about the President.

“I think that things are going to heal quickly. We’re going to get this game going in the right direction. It’s been heading in the wrong direction for a number of years. The fans want all the top players playing together and we’re going to make that happen,” Woods said. The duo even played golf together on Super Bowl morning, just days after 15x major champion’s mum passed away. Amid all of these, Trump was speculated to make his appearance at the TGL today. However, Josh Carpenter, golf reporter for the Sports Business Journal shared that such an appearance will not happen today. But one other member of the Trump family can be expected at the SoFi arena.

Have been told this is not happening tonight. https://t.co/kUXol4Q9KP

Trump’s granddaughter and golf prodigy Kai Trump is a regular attendee at TGL. She is a schoolmate of Charlie Woods and is also a huge Tiger Woods supporter. She has even supported ‘Sun Day Red’, amid ongoing legal disputes with Puma. She had posted a YouTube vlog golfing at the Trump National Golf Club at Bedminster. In that video, she wore a ‘Sun Day Red’ hoodie, voicing her nonverbal support for the 15-time major winner’s brand.

But Trump’s involvement with the TGL is something that could very well happen in the future. This is not something far-fetched as the President is close friends with Tiger Woods, one of the founders of the technology-based simulator-driven TGL.

Trump’s close bond with TGL

And it is not just Tiger Woods, that Donald Trump is close with. His TGL co-founder Rory McIlroy has also been golfing with the President of the United States.

In the press conference before the 2025 Genesis Invitational, the four-time Major winner was asked about Donald Trump. He mentioned, ”Yeah I played golf with him a few weeks ago.” McIlroy was engaged in a round of golf with the President before his inauguration for his second term at the helm of the United States, sometime in January. He also revealed that Trump had told him that he is not high on the Saudi Fund PIF-backed golf tour, LIV Golf. “I learnt that he’s not a fan of the LIV format.”  Good news for the PGA Tour fans!

The TGL has seen a host of guest stars attend its events since its inception. The likes of American Sporting heroes like Alex Morgan and Serena Williams, screenwriter and producer Shonda Rhimes and rapper DJ Khaled were all seen at the SoFi Center in Florida. So it will be no surprise if the President decides to make an appearance as well. Do you think we will get to see Donald Trump watching simulator golf soon?
