If the Falcons’ defense had a theme song last season, it would’ve been “Oops!… I Did It Again.” Because their D-line was basically a revolving door—ranked 23rd in total yards allowed (365.8 per game) and giving up a rough 24.9 points per game. And when it came to putting pressure on QBs? Forget about it. The pass rush was almost non-existent, with the Falcons sitting at 31 in total sacks (31 all season).
However, we just can’t deny the fact that their safety room performed the exact opposite of their overall D-line. I mean, Jessi Bates III had another blasting season with the Falcons. Then there was Justin Simons, who turned out to be a pivotal figure for the team. The kicker? Well, Simons, along with Richie Grant, are hitting the free agency this month. That means Jeff Ulbrich must be eyeing to rebuild his safety room. And looks like he’s going to target his former team—the Jets.
You see, after being the interim head coach of the Jets, the Falcons hired Ulbrich as their defensive coordinator. Now, here’s the deal: two of the Jets’ safety(s) are hitting the free agency in 2025: Chuck Clark and Ashtyn Davis. There’s a possibility that the DC will try to target both the Jets’ safety(s) on the free agency, which kicks off on March 10.
Starting with Clark, the 29-year-old was the starting safety for Ulbrich and the Jets at the beginning of the season. Unfortunately, Clark suffered a pectoral injury, and had to miss out on the remainder of the season. If Ulbrich is looking to sign him in the free agency, his injury issues could play a crucial role.
Because, let’s be real—the guy already missed out on the entire 2023 season following his torn ACL. Besides, his 2024 season was also cut short due to a pectoral injury. Now, the thing is, Clark is a reliable guy, there’s no doubt. However, if the Falcons and the other teams are interested in him, his injury issues will be heavily monitored. But Jeff Ulbrich still has another option.
At this point, Falcons going for Ashtyn Davis could be a smart move. The reasons? Oh, there are plenty of ’em. For starters, Davis has been working with Jeff Ulbrich for four years when they were together in New York. Sure, Davis wasn’t the starter all the time for the Jets, but considering the Falcons don’t need a star safety, it’s likely the team would go behind him in the free agency market.
As for the Jets… well, they’re making some tough calls, no doubt about that. But honestly? It’s kinda working out in their favor.
Releasing Devante Adams turned out to be a good decision for the Jets
Where things are at, Devante Adams looks like the wide receiver version of Aaron Rodgers. Oh no, we aren’t talking about his performance. The guy’s been doing a great job. The thing is, ever since Adams left the Green Bay, the guy’s been unable to find the perfect team—that too after spending some of the best seasons there.
Raiders traded for him back in 2022 and the veteran WR tallied over 1,500 yards and 14 TDs in his first season with the team. Then came his second season, and he picked things off right where he left them. The guy recorded another 1,000+ yards season. The result? It wasn’t a contract extension. In fact, the Raiders decided to trade him to the Jets for a third-round pick in 2024.
The Jets traded a third-round pick to the Raiders for Adams in October. He had 67 catches for 854 yards and 7 TDs in 11 games with the Jets. The team now saves $29.8 million in cap space with his release.

Now, here’s the deal: he had 67 catches for 854 yards and 7 TDs in 11 games with the Jets. Most of y’all thought that he’d be staying in New York after such a season. But nah, the Jets are releasing him and even saving $29.8 million in cap space with his release. Brutal? Well, business is business. Just ask Ned Stark how loyalty worked out for him.
With that being said, Devante Adams is now hitting the free agency and is ready to join Rodgers wherever Rodgers wants to play. But let’s be real—Rodgers isn’t landing on a team anytime soon. Adams might as well hit the market now instead of waiting around for something that might never happen.
