The story of Sedriques Dumas has witnessed new developments. The UFC middleweight contender was arrested and brought into custody of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office on 28 April 2025. He is currently bound with a bond of $558,500 and appeared before Judge Kristina Denise Lightel for an initial hearing. Later, on 6 May, he had a pretrial hearing. And his next court appearance is set for May 23. But following the pretrial hearing, some new facts came into light after the media acquired a police report on the case.
Not too long ago, MMA Fighting got their hands on the police report from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department. And according to the report, Dumas’ arrest was based on domestic violence between the UFC middleweight fighter and his ex-girlfriend. The police revealed that they were called in by Dumas’ ex-girlfriend with a complaint of ‘The Reaper’ aggressively opening the back door of her residence. He then forcefully took away her cellphone. Of course, she retaliated by following Dumas and asking for her phone back. But when she threatened him, claiming that he was going to jail, Dumas reportedly replied, “If I’m going to jail then I’m going to get my rings back.”
But that’s not all! He even allegedly tried to take a ring out of his ex-girlfriend’s finger forcefully. But having failed in his attempts, Dumas “threw her around the room” into a wooden vase. He then allegedly snatched a necklace from her neck and left the residence. Well, she claimed that the necklace was worth around $400. And after Dumas left in his black BMW, she called 911 as she found her phone tossed in the front yard. It was later revealed that Dumas used to stay with her, but moved out last December.
According to the police, they found the victim “crying and shaking” with “fresh scratches and bruises on her right leg and right arm.” Nevertheless, the lady still pleaded for the police not to put her ex-boyfriend behind bars. However, Dumas was detained when the authorities found him “hiding in a dog crate in a shed on the back of the property.” And upon a search of Dumas’ car, the police allegedly found a plastic bag filled with m——–, weighing about 51 grams. Additionally, the officers also found a black Beretta inside a UFC bag belonging to the middleweight fighter. But guess what the police also found – broken pieces of the necklace.

Following Dumas’ arrest, the UFC fighter claimed that he actually had permission to enter the residence and retrieve the things belonging to him. However, his ex-girlfriend allegedly said no and started hitting him. He claimed that his ex-girlfriend threw a wooden vase at him, which put a nasty scratch on his leg. And when she told him that the police had arrived, he went on and hid in the dog shed.
Needless to say, the Florida police seized the car, the m——– (which was apparently prescribed), and everything they found and put it all in the evidence box. Later on, Dumas was arrested on multiple charges, including robbery and assault. However, this wasn’t the first time Dumas found himself in trouble. He has been arrested 12 times since 2014. How did his MMA career fare in this time?
How did Sedriques Dumas fare in the world of mixed martial arts?
‘The Reaper’ began his journey in the MMA realm with a victory at Beatdown at the Beach 1, back in April 2018. With the taste of victory in his first amateur bout, Dumas continued to go through 8 more fights. And he won them all before facing the very first defeat of his career at CFFC 81.
But with an amateur record of 8-1, he moved to the iKon Fighting Federation for his debut as a professional fighter. And he won that with a rear-naked choke in the first round. He went on to win 6 more fights under the banner of iKon FC, AKA, Gamebred Fighting Championship, and Dana White’s Contender Series, before stepping into the Octagon debut. But unfortunately, he was choked out with a guillotine hold in his first UFC fight.
Soon, Dumas fought Cody Brundage and Abu Azaitar, and defeated both of them via a unanimous decision. But his next bout against Nursulton Ruziboev ended with his defeat by a round 1 KO. In 2024, ‘The Reaper’ beat Denis Tiuliulin via unanimous decision. But his luck failed with his UFC 314 bout.
As far as his MMA career is concerned, Dumas won 10 out of 13 fights as a professional fighter. His UFC record read 3-3, with his last bout against Michal Olekseijczuk at UFC 314 ending up in a first-round knockout defeat. But judging from the scenario surrounding him, we might not expect to see him back in the Octagon anytime soon.
