Seeing your favorite drivers on track right now? How do you think things will look for them when they hang the helmet? They can contribute to the sport as an analyst or team owner, like Jimmie Johnson and Dale Jr., but what most drivers end up doing is fighting social evils off the racetrack. Like Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation, which researches to uncover better treatments and a cure for childhood cancer through private donations, the Petty family has their way of charity. They have organized the Kyle Petty Charity Ride in Mill Hall, Pennsylvania. This occasion involved more than a hundred motorcyclists turning up in the town. And looks like another NASCAR veteran is on the same track right now.
The 1989 NASCAR Cup Series champion, Rusty Wallace, is looking forward to a fruitful endeavor for a good cause. Following in his on-track competitor’s footsteps, he is up to something eerily similar, and let’s just hope it does not go like the last time!
Rusty Wallace recently announced on X that his ‘Rusty Wallace Family of Dealerships‘ is organizing a charity ride. But according to how things seem, it feels like it is more than just a charity ride. “Hey, everybody! Rusty Wallace here, I’m over here at the Southern Country Custom Shops, right now. We got a big charity ride coming up, May 17th. It’s going to be a Rusty Wallace Family of Dealerships charity ride. Supporting the Isaiah 117 House, it’s going to be a great cause,” he said. Isaiah 117 House provides physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children awaiting placement. The organisation primarily deals with children who are removed from domestic situations that threaten their safety. The Usual protocol is to take them to a child welfare services office before being relocated to a more stable environment. That’s a pretty noble cause, aiming to raise $200,000! However, there might be a veiled way in which he could get some footfall at his own business.
In the video, he showcased his ride and pointed out a few more at his business. Rusty Wallace said, “This is one of the bikes I’m gonna be riding. This is one of our new ones. We’re going to bring in a lot of cool ones with us too. Got some beautiful bikes over here, take a look at those and they’ll be on display at the Rusty Wallace Honda, they’re going to be on display for you guys to check them out.” The riders can choose to buy the motorcycles they want to, and feel all giddy about it. However, there are more reasons to be happy.

The ride will offer much more than charity, and footfall into Rusty Wallace’s business. “The ride’s going to be fantastic, we’re going to have free food, music, everything, so come on by and hang out with us. May 17th, the Rusty Wallace Family of Dealerships Charity Ride,” he said. Fans and riders are going to enjoy this charitable event. However, let’s hope it does not turn out to be like the last time.
Yes, we are talking about the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience. Like many great things, this program, too, came to an end. And fans were left broken. “It is with heavy hearts that we announce that after almost 25 years of making dreams come true for our customers and staff, we are suspending operations effective immediately. We have tremendously enjoyed the privilege of bringing you an authentic racing experience.” – This was a message delivered by Rusty Wallace with a heavy heart. But this endeavor looks more promising, capitalizing on the fact that he has had a lot of experience with turns now because of his NASCAR journey.
Rusty Wallace chose to build the bigger picture rather than a team
It was Wallace’s final race of the 2005 season. And he had something on his mind. There used to be a cornfield near Interstate 80. Rusty Wallace wanted to make sure that the place in Iowa got the recognition it deserved, a breeding ground for champions. So, Rusty Wallace designed the Iowa Speedway, a 7/8 mile oval race track in Newton, Iowa. He is credited as the designer and builder of the track, which opened in 2006.
This track at Newton, Iowa, opened in 2006. It has a structural similarity to the Richmond International Raceway. And do you know? This is the track where Wallace has won six times! The track has been a host to both NASCAR and IndyCar, becoming an integral part of motorsport history. Being a driver himself, Rusty Wallace paid careful attention to driver safety, speed, and competitive racing while designing the track. And that is HISTORIC!
Do you hope to see more such projects from Wallace in the future? Let us know in the comments below.
