The MMA community has been after the current middleweight champion since the very beginning owing to his unorthodox style inside the Octagon. But Dricus Du Plessis has always responded in kind and has proved his critics wrong on multiple occasions. With victories over former champions like Robert Whittaker, Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland, Du Plessis has sealed his status as the undisputed kingpin at 185lbs. However, there is one more department where ‘Stillknocks’ remains undefeated!
And even better than his performances inside the cage. His cheeky, irresistible trash talk and comebacks for days. This is something rising 185fer Shara Magomedov found out recently. But how? Well, rumors have that Du Plessis is slated to go against next against undefeated god-king Khamzat Chimaev next. And with no hesitation, ‘Bullet’ picked ‘Borz’ as the heavy favorite to win the belt. Moreover, the Dagestani even admitted to siding with the challengers against the reigning champion.
The Russian is also convinced that luck has been on the champion’s side. And believes it won’t last much longer when he goes up against Chimaev. In an Instagram post shared by Home of Fight, ‘Bullet’ while speaking to Sport 24 said, “I will be very happy if Du Plessis loses his belt. I don’t understand how he managed to get this belt. Chimaev has the data to defeat Dricus. I hope that nothing will stop him from coming out in the best shape and demonstrating his level. Maybe it’s stupid to say, but Du Plessis seems to be lucky.”
Big mistake! Naturally, the comments have not gone well with the South African. In reply, Du Plessis launched a tirade when he shared a story on his Instagram account and knocked the Dagestani out with just his words. “My man you got one eye on the ceiling and the other at the TV, you not seeing the same DDP as the rest of us. Guys are out here losing fights, nowhere near contending and talking smack.”

Moreover, Du Plessis also took to his X account to respond to the claim and tweeted, “Somebody get my guy some eye drop”. It seems the fans have a new rivalry building up in the middleweight division. This is not the first time that Du Plessis has blasted someone with his words. The South African infamously made Adesanya and Strickland cry ahead of their respective bouts at UFC 305 and UFC 297. Talk about being a trash-talker!
But it seems that Magomedov is not the only one who is rooting against the champion in a fight against Khamzat Chimaev. One of the brightest talents in the division, Bo Nickal is also waiting to see the epic clash.
While he does believe that the fight will be a tough contest, the 29-year-old feels it’s the Chechen juggernaut who holds a massive advantage in the clash. Nickal is highly impressed with the way Chimaev defeated Robert Whittaker at UFC 308 and feels his wrestling will be a deciding factor in the fight.

It’s a showdown between two of the most elite contenders in the division. However, Nickal has already picked his favorite and it’s Khamzat Chimaev. Red Corner MMA shared a clip of Nickal having a conversation on the Home Of Fight show and sharing his expertise with the fans.
While speaking on the show he said, “Tough fight I think that Dricus has the size. He probably has a little better cardio. I think striking is pretty even. I would say you know Khamzat has a massive advantage in the grappling. The longer the fight goes, the bigger the advantage for Dricus. But seeing Khamzat in his last fight against Whittaker, he was very impressive. And you know, all and all, it’s gonna be a great fight. But I would give the edge to Khamzat.”
