The “tragic and senseless act of violence” on campus today. FSU President Richard McCullough addressed university students, faculty, and staff members. During lunchtime, an active sh–ter opened fire at the Student Union. As per the reports, 2 people died, but the deceased, who were not named, were not students. Apart from this, 6 other people were injured and hospitalized. During this time, Magic Johnson offered his student on the tragic day.
“Cookie and I are praying for the all the families that lost a loved one and those that were injured on the Florida State campus. We are sending special prayers for the FSU student body, administrators and faculty, and the entire Tallahassee community.” The incident sent students and anyone on the campus into a frenzy.
Other reports added that 30 people were hiding in the bowling alley in the union’s lower level. Florida State is one of Florida’s 12 public universities, about 44,000 students are enrolled in the university, per the school’s 2024 fact sheet. It has its main campus in Tallahassee, and this incident takes place a decade after the previous such issue.

In 2014, the main library was the site of a sh–ting that wounded three people. For now, the university canceled classes for the rest of the week and canceled home athletic events through Sunday.
