“He’s Still a Kid”: Dylan Raiola’s Family Forced to Respond as Weight Concerns Draw Unwanted Spring Spotlight

Matt Rhule tossed the match, and the internet set Dylan Raiola on fire. Nebraska’s head coach didn’t hold back when he said, “He won’t be a great quarterback at 240 pounds,” and from there, the discourse spiraled. Listed at 230 pounds, Raiola suddenly found himself in the crosshairs of every couch coach with an X account, especially after a tight jersey video didn’t do him any favors.

Now, Raiola’s frustration is boiling over. But he’s not fighting this battle alone—his family has his back. When a Huskers Online reporter asked dad Donovan Raiola how Dylan looked compared to last spring, Nebraska’s offensive line coach and Dylan’s uncle didn’t sugarcoat it before saying,

“You know he’s he’s still 19 right he’s still figuring things out he’s still a kid so but you can feel his presence a little more right last year we had a veteran you know heavy team that he was just trying to gain guys respect you know so notice him speaking up a little more you know the work is still the work right you either do it or you don’t but I think in that way I think his leadership you can hear his voice a little more you know.”

(This is a developing story…)
