“I Just Won’t Sleep,” Serena Williams Spoils Daughters As She Turns Heater for Their Playtime, Sacrificing Sleep

Serena Williams dominated the tennis world for decades, but after retiring in 2022, she had her sights set on a new title: the Greatest of All Time at motherhood. “I want to be the GOAT at something else. And for me, that’s being a mom right now,” she said. At 43, the former World No. 1 has stepped off the court and into boardrooms, business ventures, and bedtime routines—managing it all like a pro. Whether she’s running a fashion line or tucking in her daughters after a red carpet event, Williams is proving that her favorite role yet is simply being Mom. And her latest social media update proves just that!

The American tennis icon often shares sweet family moments on social media. After turning heads at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, she didn’t let the glam stop her from showing what really matters. Still dressed in her sparkly outfit, she tucked in her eldest daughter Olympia and prayed with her before bed. Then she posted it with a heartfelt caption: “I try my best to pray every day with them no matter the circumstances. I slay and I pray.”

Now, she’s shared another adorable bedtime story. Williams took to X and narrated the cutest reason for not getting some sleep. She wrote, “I am somehow being squished by a 7 year old and a 1 year old…. We have a big bed but I think I am their heater…I don’t have the heart to move them so I just won’t sleep.”

Believe it or not, this actually works out perfectly for Williams, who has admitted she misses her daughters when they are asleep. On March 4, the American legend revealed on X, “I miss them so much when they sleep. That’s when I get really lonely. #mygirls.”

That’s the amount of love she has for her daughters. But, being as busy as Williams is, there are bound to be some challenges. In a 2022 interview with Insider, before her second daughter, Adira was born, she opened up about a very real part of parenting. “Mum guilt is real. I always feel so guilty when I’m doing something on my own.” But she doesn’t let that stop her from showing up. “I don’t know if my method works, but I’m very hands-on with my daughter. I’ve set really good boundaries. But then after work, I’m going right to my daughter,” she said.

And now she’s found a way to bring her daughters into her work world too.

Serena Williams designs kidswear with daughters

Serena Williams is no stranger to fashion. Long before this new collab, she studied fashion design for three years in the early 2000s. She later launched her own clothing brand, S by Serena, and even started a jewelry line under her name. Add to that a partnership with Nike, where she supports emerging designers, and you know Serena’s fashion game is no hobby.

But her latest venture is extra special. The 43-year-old recently teamed up with kidswear brand Janie and Jack for a brand-new collection. And this time, she got to design with her daughters in mind. Olympia, her oldest, is already a mini fashion icon. According to the American tennis icon, she’s been dressing herself since age one. “She’s a girly girl,” Williams said. “She has a very eclectic type of style. She’s very innovative, and I love it. I love seeing that she doesn’t follow the curve.”

The new kidswear collection is bursting with bold colors and vacation-inspired prints. One of the standout pieces? A throwback to her own childhood. The line includes a reimagined version of her 1992 two-piece tennis outfit—a crop top and high-waisted skirt. There’s also swimwear, ombré sets, and two matching mommy-and-me looks for moms and their little ones. It’s all made for kids up to age 12 and is available online and in Janie and Jack stores across the country.

Williams had one word to sum it all up and said, “If I could describe this collection in one word, I think I would say ‘joy.’ It’s very joyful, and that’s what I want to create.”

From bedtime prayers to business meetings, from late-night cuddles to early morning design ideas, Serena Williams is showing the world that motherhood is her newest arena. And she’s winning at it. How’s that for a GOAT move?
