Ian Garry Spoils Jack Della Maddalena’s Celebration Parade With Harsh Belal Muhammad Fight Analysis

At UFC 315, a new welterweight king was crowned as Jack Della Maddalena dragged former champ Belal Muhammad through a hall of pain en route to a dominant unanimous decision victory. ‘Remember The Name’ stayed true to his word, choosing to stand and trade with the Aussie—but at what cost? The price was steep: his entire belt. What began as a slow-paced chess match turned into a blood-soaked war by Round 5, with both men battered and bruised. Watching closely was backup fighter Ian Garry, who didn’t hold back in his post-fight analysis—and if his words are any warning, Della Maddalena better stay sharp.

While speaking with Ariel Helwani on his YouTube channel, Ian Garry was asked whether he thought Jack Della Maddalena looked a bit sloppy in his fight. The Irishman responded that Jack did appear slow when he watched him live in Canada. “So I watched it live, right? Which means I’m watching it through my eyes—which I know how fast I am, I know real time—and I thought both of them looked slow from watching it with my own eyes,” said Ian Garry.

He further added, “Then I watched it back on TV, and it was a completely different look. Jack looked a hell of a lot cleaner than he did in person, and he looked a lot faster when you’re just watching him versus Balal. When you’re sat front row, you’re watching it—I’m watching as if I’m in there. That’s my mentality. But yeah, I think there were a lot of things Jack did that I thought were quite sloppy, but technically, he was the better striker, so he was going to win that regardless. Balal has never been known for his striking.”

Despite his lack of striking skills, Belal Muhammad delivered a beating to Jack Della Maddalena, leaving the Australian’s eyes bruised after the fight. All in all, Della Maddalena threw 178 significant strikes, while Belal Muhammad landed 132. When compared to the Aussie’s past performances, this was a step back. Other than his bout with Gilbert Burns, which ended in a K/O victory for him, both his fights against Bassil Hafez and Kevin Holland ended in split decisions.

Ian Machado Garry thought Jack Della Maddalena looked ‘sloppy’ at UFC 315:

Ian Garry believes that Della Maddalena was indeed the better striker that night, but he acknowledged that things could have gone downhill quickly if his speed hadn’t been on his side. Well, Della Maddalena might be fighting Islam Maakahchev next as the Dagestani has already relinquished his title to fight for the welterweight belt, but there’s a looming rivalry brewing between Garry and Della Maddalena.

Jack Della Maddalena’s coach attacks Ian Machado Garry

After back-to-back bangers in the UFC, Ian Garry has made one clear demand to UFC CEO Dana White — a shot at the title. Since then, the Irishman has done everything he can to get under the skin of the Aussie. But guess what? Jack Della Maddalena’s coach, Ben Vickers, has made a hilarious statement about the Irishman and his way of dealing with fame.

While having a conversation with ‘Submission Radio,’ Vickers called out to Garry for being a celebrity in a sport that requires valor, “He needs to stop flying around the world trying to be a celebrity, and get in the gym and get some power and figure out how to finish fights. His time would be better spent doing that than trying to wind Jack up, you think Jack’s going to bite on any of that stuff? He doesn’t care, man. He’s the most chilled-out dude in the world. So, yeah, it’s all just a bit silly really. I don’t think Ian Garry will ever own [a UFC championship], answer to your question.”

That was quite a blow from Ben Vickers. Interestingly, Jack Della Maddalena has expressed his desire to fight Ian Garry, but not just now, as he believes that ‘The Future’ would need much more power to deal with him. So, did Garry respond to such a callout? He certainly did. In his same conversation with Helwani, ‘The Future’ said, “In his last 4 fights, Jack has had 1 finish. He’s telling me I need to get into the gym, and I need to start finding some power? He got beat up pretty bad. I’ve seen his face. Belal ain’t nowhere near the striker that I am… I’ll bend his nose backwards the way it should be.”

Jack Della Maddalena and Ian Garry have been trading verbal jabs, but whether it will lead to an actual fight remains to be seen. Regardless, what are your thoughts on all the buzz? Share your opinion in the comments below!
