Indiana HC Stephanie White Sets Sights on Locker Room Corrections After WNBA All-Star Break

The 2025 WNBA season has been anything but consistent for the Indiana Fever. From winning the Commissioner’s Cup against the mighty Minnesota Lynx, to losing two games against the expansion team, the Golden State Valyries, it’s been full of ups and downs. Caitlin Clark’s impact on the Fever is eerily similar to Steph Curry with with Warriors. The moment the franchise player is injured, the coach faces a challenge to reinvent the team. This is exactly what Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White has had to do.

With Caitlin Clark missing almost half the season played so far, Stephanie White has had to find solutions. While definitely not an easy task, Coach White has managed to keep the team afloat during CC’s absence. The Fever hold a 12-11 record and sit 6th in the standings, positioning themselves for a playoff run. This is especially impressive considering Caitlin has missed almost half of these games. Stephanie White even managed to beat the Minnesota Lynx for the Commissioner’s Cup title.

While winning the title was a pleasant surprise for them and a hope for a shift in momentum, unfortunately, that did not happen. They have gone 4-3 since they won the Cup, but more importantly, Caitlin Clark has suffered another injury. This time, a right groin injury. With the second half of the season starting on Tuesday, Stephanie White needs to lead the team in a positive trend.

Speaking to the media after the Fever’s latest practice session, Stephanie White addressed the same. When a reporter asked how the team can avoid the in-game landslides, Coach White set clear goals to avoid them. She said, “There are a lot of different ways. For some people, it’s visualization, for some people, it’s watching more films. Whether it’s of them or their execution. When we have the opportunity to practise, we want to be able to do that.

During the same presser, she complained that the team had most of their games clustered together and lacked time to practice. She said the “We don’t always have time to get reps, and natural slippage happens, but it can’t be in a vast amount of things that we do.” The All-Star break came at the right time for the Fever with concerns about injuries and film studies. It gives them a crucial break to review film and gain valuable insights into their mistakes.

Caitlin Clark Progressing, But Still No Timeline To Return

When Caitlin Clark held her groin area in Indiana’s game against the Connecticut Sun, the whole basketball world held its breath. Having already suffered three injuries in the season, there was just one question on everybody’s mind. How serious is the injury?

The worst part of the injury was her missing the All-Star Weekend at her home court. She might have missed participating in the events, but her presence was strongly felt throughout the weekend.

The fans might have enjoyed just her presence and her first “coaching” stint during the All-Star Game. There’s no doubt that they all want her on the floor as soon as possible. However, when the reporters asked Stephanie White about CC’s progress and status for the game, it was all bad news for the Fever fans. She revealed that while Caitlin is continuing to progress, she is out for the game against the New York Liberty.

She continued that Caitlin is going to check in with some more doctors and get some more clarity on the severity. At this point, the team is continuing to list her day-to-day, but they expect a clear indication of the severity of the injury early this week. Coach White also said that they expect CC to continue to deal with these niggles as these injuries can only properly heal if you have time to allow them to heal. Time that players do not get, except for the off-season.

While Caitlin Clark is out, it will be interesting to see how the team copes without her. With the crunch second half of the season ahead, it’s make-or-break time for the Indiana Fever. Their next stop, the New York Liberty, who would be full of confidence after their players cleaned swept the All-Star Friday. Will the Indiana Fever pull off a surprise win, or will they fall back to a .500 record? We’ll find out Tuesday night!!!
