Just 24 hours ago, the Wings avenged that heartbreaker from September 15 last season with an 81-80 win. It was a one-point loss to Indiana just a week before the playoffs. Call it poetic justice: Dallas snapped a five-game skid, ruined the Fever’s shot at a regular-season sweep, and handed Indy a taste of their own medicine, all in one night. Paige Bueckers had been in killer mode for three straight games (27, 21, and 22 points) vs the Fever. But this one was less about her usual team highs and more about a so-called “low-maintenance player” who, as PB herself puts it, “does all the things that don’t show up on the stat sheet.”
Except this time, Maddy Siegrist made sure her work did show up. She dropped a career-high 22 points to power Dallas out of its slump. Odyssey Sims came in on hardship for the Fever to fill in for Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald. But her two assists were far from the spark Indy needed. Amidst all of it, Paige managed to put up 16 points, eight assists, and five rebounds. Sure, that’s not good enough to lead the scoring charge, but apparently it’s just enough to create history.
She’s now tied with Houston Comets legend Cynthia Cooper-Dyke for the second-most games by a rookie with at least 15 points and five assists (12). Paige Bueckers is trailing only Caitlin Clark, who did it 30 times in 40 games. However, beating that mark is basically impossible for her now. Unless Dallas somehow makes the playoffs, PB’s got just 11 games left. Even if she hit that mark in all of them, she’d still be seven short. Speaking of impossible chases, Paige is also gunning for Clark’s holy grail of total rookie points.

Right now, Paige Bueckers sits at 479 points. To catch Caitlin Clark, she’d need to crank out 26.5 a night over the final 11 games. And even then, Clark’s crown might still be safe. Why? Because Bueckers is averaging 18.5 PPG, and even the league’s top scorer, Napheesa Collier, is “only” at 23.5. So asking Paige to suddenly drop 26.5 a night is technically possible in some alternate universe, but definitely not this one.

But here’s the thing: while Paige Bueckers is trailing by a mile in total points, the gap in average points per game is much tighter. That’s because Clark’s monster total is inflated by the fact she didn’t miss a single game as a rookie, logging all 40. Bueckers, on the other hand, has had far fewer games to work with due to injuries. This makes her PPG look a lot closer to Clark’s than the raw totals suggest. In short, Clark’s lead comes as much from a bigger denominator (more games played). Here are the current standings-

But is there a stat where Paige Bueckers outranks Caitlin Clark?
Paige Bueckers’ Perfect Streak
Turns out, there’s one thing even the WNBA’s biggest stars haven’t done this season. Paige Bueckers is the only one pulling it off. Unlike Caitlin Clark, A’ja Wilson, or Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, Bueckers has scored in double digits in every single game she’s played. That is 25 straight with at least 10 points. That’s a level of consistency no one else in the league can match. Be it a rookie or veteran, per I Talk Hoops (@trendyhoopstars).
Caitlin Clark has had huge games but also a six-point night against Seattle while dealing with quad and groin injuries (limiting her to 13 games). Wilson and Collier each had one night off each due to injuries too. Collier put up just seven against Vegas with back issues. Stewart? She’s had a few low-scoring games too. But Paige Bueckers has not had a single slip-up.
Whether she drops 27 or battles for 12, Paige Bueckers has been a steady force in every game she’s played. That flawless streak is part of her otherwise historic rookie year. She’s the fastest in WNBA history to hit 450+ points, 100+ rebounds, and 100+ assists. Smashing all three marks in a debut season before anyone else. The irony is that while Dallas flounders at 8-24 with playoffs nearly out of reach, their rookie is putting up numbers that rival legends.
Teammates say it’s not just the scoring; it’s her poise, adaptability, and how she’s quietly redefining what a “rookie adjustment period” looks like. Even without team success, Bueckers is building her own untouchable records.
