Insider Exposes Tom Brady’s Lie in Shedeur Sanders Rejection After Raiders Owner’s Denial

When the 2025 offseason hit, there was one thing in Vegas everyone kept yapping about… well, besides Tom Brady’s conflict of interest drama. The real question was: would Brady have a hand in picking the Raiders‘ next quarterback? And honestly, why not? The Raiders have been desperate for a franchise QB, and who else was the right guy to take insights from? Pete Carroll confirmed the thoughts: “We happen to have the greatest of all time to help us,” the HC said.

Geno Smith came in, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves—he’s an aged QB and not your long-term option. So when the draft hit, all eyes turned to one name: Shedeur Sanders. But draft night told a different story. Sanders slipped past, and almost instantly, the whispers started: Brady must’ve been the reason. Fans weren’t shy about pointing fingers either. Brady, of course, brushed it off. “I wasn’t part of any evaluation process,” the NFL legend insisted.

Some believed him, others didn’t. And now? Well, new reports say he wasn’t being straight. Turns out, Brady was very much in those QB talks after all. We’re not making this up—Albert Breer revealed the tale on The Rich Eisen Show. “The story I heard was he helped with their quarterback evaluation,” Breer said a week ago. And his statement isn’t without metrics.

Because who would not want to be involved in that right? Who would not want him involved? So he flew in incognito for a day to sit down with the front office and the coaches to go through quarterbacks and look at quarterbacks on tape. No one knew about it. My understanding was that the reason why is because he knows if he shows up, he takes all the oxygen out of the room. We do not want the perception out there that he is lording over everything. But he certainly has influence on the types of players they are bringing in.”

Breer believes that Tom Brady was involved in the Raiders’ decision on what kind of players they were bringing in. But if we tweak it a little bit, or well… look at it with a different perspective, Brady certainly had influence on what kind of players not to bring into the Raiders’ locker room. Like? Well, people might name Shedeur Sanders, and rightfully so.

Ahead of the draft week, the Raiders reportedly scheduled an in-person visit with Shedeur.  But they didn’t pick him. Of course, after Shedeur was slipped to No. 144 on Day 3 of the draft, Brady confirmed he wasn’t a part of the evaluation process and claimed that he motivated the young quarterback. But the Raiders’ GM, John Spytek, told a different tale.

When we are looking at quarterbacks, we’d have to be fools not to involve him [Brady],” the GM said a couple of days after Brady’s statement. “Tom is the foremost expert on quarterback play I’ve ever been around.” Long story short: Tom Brady said that he wasn’t involved in the Raiders’ QB evaluation. However, Albert Breer has a different take on this.

Tom Brady says he had nothing to do with Shedeur Sanders’ draft fall

Naturally, he’s very proactive. We had a conversation, then phone calls, then then text messages, and then him making the commitment to say ‘all right, this is what I want to do, I’m very serious about it,’” Tom Brady said of Shedeur Sanders back in 2023. After all, the NFL legend had mentored the former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback a few years back. No wonder, ahead of the NFL draft, the NFL pundits were on board that Brady, the Raiders’ minority owner, would pick Shedeur in the first round.

But then again, there had been a wrinkle. Vegas picked the running back Ashton Jeanty in the first round. And just like that, Shedeur fell to the 144th overall pick. The rumor mill started buzzing that Brady had something to do with it. Skip Bayless added another layer to it, noting, “It is now pretty clear Tom Brady – who mentored Shedeur – told the Raiders NOT to take him. Duly noted.” But Brady? He adhered to his statement.

He first claimed that he had nothing to do with the quarterback evaluation process. And when the Art of Dialogue podcast’s host interjected that Bayless had claimed otherwise, Brady wasn’t the one to sugarcoat it either. “That’s the problem with media, everyone can just say whatever the f*** they want and get away with it,” he roared. “It’s kind of unfortunate, because there actually used to be a lot of integrity in the media. There is way less now because everyone actually needs crazy voices to get heard.”

Safe to say that Shedeur just kicked off the Browns‘ preseason opener as the QB1 last week, but honestly, the chatter about his draft slide back in April? Yeah, it’s still not going anywhere. We’ll see how this drama concludes.
