If you had to pick two golfers—one with the best Champions Dinner menu and one with the worst—who would they be? On paper, every dish looks delicious, making it a tough choice for anyone. However, three-time Masters champion Sir Nick Faldo, who has sampled many of them, recently shared his thoughts on the matter.
Recently, Sky Sports Golf shared a video featuring Sir Nick Faldo. In the video, they talked about everything related to the Masters, and the Champions dinner was also an interesting topic. Faldo started by explaining the setup of the dinner and said, “I go in the Southern Hemisphere, as I call it. So there’s the chairman,” followed by the champions on the long rectangular table.
While talking about Faldo, I also added that no one talks about the competition at the table and that everyone is relaxing and messing around with each other. “Somebody says something, everybody gives them a hard time, which is quite fun,” he said. The host also asked whether someone ever complained about Faldo’s choices for the champions’ dinner or if all three of them were good. As a response, he said, “Oh, I did the first one. I did steak and kidney pie, and they smelt the kidney. And that was we go down.”
However, he also revealed some of his personal favorites and said, “We have had some good ones. i mean Rambo was very good.” Talking about LIV Golfer Jon Rahm‘s champions dinner, where he served a menu inspired by his Basque heritage in Spain. The dinner featured six options for tapas and pintxos, including a Basque crab salad and potato. For the main course, guests could choose between a smoked and seared Basque ribeye steak or a turbot dish with Navarra white asparagus.
Just like Sir Nick Faldo liked some of the dinner choices, there was one which he seemed to dislike as well. Talking about it, he said, “Chuck E. Cheese we called it,” he said referring to Bubba Watson‘s dinner. “Yeah, we had a little bit of chicken and some corn and yeah and then the ice cream sundae for I mean it was horrendous, you know,” further added the 3x masters champion.

The masters have had a variety of tastes over the years. Every year’s menu comes with a story of a golfer. Take the 2023 champion Jon Rahm, for example. His menu, including “Mama Rahm’s classic lentil stew,” was a recipe from Rahm’s grandmother, which the golfer decided to choose as a loving gesture. This year also, Scottie Scheffler‘s menu comes with a hilarious story.
What does Scottie Scheffler have for this year’s Champions Dinner?
The 2024 masters was beautiful to watch, indeed. After winning the green jacket for the second time, the golfer walked the greens with his caddie, Ted Scott. Coming to this year, he is not only challenging his fellow golfers but also serving a classic Texas-style dinner, just like he did in 2023. The menu is loaded with cheeseburger sliders, firecracker shrimp, meatball and ravioli bites, Texas-style chili, steak or redfish, and a chocolate chip cookie skillet. But it’s meatball and ravioli bites have an interesting tale.
Last year, during Christmas, Scottie Scheffler injured his right hand while making ravioli. It was a puncture wound, and the golfer had to go through surgery for it. Talking about it he said, “So, when you make ravioli, we wanted to make them from scratch. So you’ve got to roll the dough, and you’ve got to cut the dough, but we were at a rental house, so we didn’t have like the right tools, and the only thing there was a wine glass that we found. I had my hand on top of it, and it broke.” It’s certainly ironic to include the same dish on the menu.
