Luka Doncic in a Lakers jersey. It doesn’t look right, feel right, and if you ask Dirk Nowitzki, it’s just plain “weird.”
Dirk, who played with Luka in his final season, didn’t hide the fact that it stung. He was disappointed, and seeing Doncic in a Lakers jersey just didn’t feel right. But at the same time, he knew he had to be there for him.
“I felt a little disappointed and sad for him, you know. I think he obviously didn’t see this coming,” Dirk admitted. “So he invited me to come out to his first game in LA, and I felt like I had to support him. I played with him in my last season. We’ve gotten close. I’ve tried to mentor him. I’ve tried to help him as much as I can in the last few years.“
Meanwhile, things in Dallas are getting messy. The Mavericks are catching heat for allegedly editing Luka out of a hype video with rapper Dorrough. Fans noticed some oddly placed silhouettes that looked like they were covering him up, and now the internet is buzzing with conspiracy theories.
The whole situation feels surreal. One minute, Doncic was the face of the franchise, and now he’s in Purple & Gold while the Mavs are seemingly trying to erase him. Wild times in the NBA!
