Jacob deGrom Predicted to Achieve a Feat He Hasn’t Since 2019 Despite His Recent Tragic Injury Woes

The Texas Rangers seem to be right on the money at the moment! But why? Well, the Rangers are gearing up for a great season with their star pitcher Jacob deGrom coming off an injury. With the spring training start, MLB insider Ron Darling seems to be optimistic about watching deGrom play 100+ innings, to say the least.

Even in a 2024 that was not his best, deGrom had an average 1.69 ERA, with 14 K and 1.13 WHIP. So, with the Rangers being affected by a lot of injuries that hampered their starting rotation and the key hitters as well, deGrom’s coming back to the mound indicates something that he hasn’t achieved since 2019. Isn’t it?

Well, Jacob deGrom joined the Texas Rangers in 2022 for a five-year, $185 million deal. However, the last time he pitched 100+ innings was in 2019 with the Mets, and since then, he has faced a lot of ups and downs, going 30.1 innings and 2.67 ERA in 2023 and 1.69 ERA in 10.2 innings in 2024.

So, when Matt Vasgersian asked Ron Darling about deGrom’s chances of pitching 100 innings in 2025, the MLB insider was confident after having seen his peak in New York. Darling said, I almost saw every one of his starts in the Mets’ uniform; blessed to watch him pitch, just extraordinary.” The insider even compared deGrom to the legendary Dwight Gooden in the way deGrom dominated hitters.

“So, because I’m such an optimist, because I like this man, hundred percent, he’s gonna get those hundred innings. He’s going to put himself into the top, with the next two or four years, being healthy, and and then putting himself in that extra ramp towards the Hall of Fame.”

Meanwhile, Jacob deGrom shows good signs of recovery, which has further raised the expectations during the upcoming campaign. The current spring training and offseason routine will definitely help deGrom to acquire the desired skills and remain healthy, free of any injuries in the 2025 season too. Think that’s possible?

Jacob deGrom hinting a comeback to the mound

While the Texas Rangers battle a series of injuries, their primary focus remains on Jacob deGrom, who is looking healthy in the spring training session. Despite the Rangers having good depth in the pitching rotation, deGrom’s comeback remains a key aspect of the team’s success. However, he is still at a critical juncture in his professional career and will look to grasp the opportunity to make it count as quickly as possible. But there’s more!

Despite the injury, deGrom’s impact on the Rangers can never be ignored. Being one of the best pitchers in the lineup, the return of the right-hander could not only bolster their lineup but could even increase their chances of making it to the playoffs. While the Rangers would still need a semi-healthy Jacob deGrom, they would look to keep an eye on him and how his health improves over time.
