The last time Knicks were in the Conference Finals, LeBron James was just a high school teenager. Yeah, it’s been that long. But after 25 long years, Jalen Brunson has finally led the franchise to that stage once again. That too in the most dominant way possible. With an opportunity to close out the series in MSG, the Knicks absolutely decimated the Celtics, blowing them out by 38 points. Sure enough, Brunson was hyped after the win. But even amid celebration, he was a bit concerned about what his dad Rick would think of his postgame comments.
Addressing his thoughts about the Knicks’ trip to the East Finals, JB said, “I mean this is great, umm we haven’t been here since my dad played or was on the team – he’s not going to like that but umm it’s means a lot for this organisation & city.” Rick Brunson, who is now on the Knicks coaching staff, was part of the roster that reached the Finals back in 2000. But Jalen feared reminded his dad the team hasn’t been to that stage since.
