“Jamahal Ruining This Is Terrible” – Hill vs. Rountree Jr. Reportedly Off as UFC Kansas Suffers Injury Setback, Fans React

Life after relinquishing the light heavyweight title hasn’t been kind to Jamahal Hill. Losing to Alex Pereira in the first round at UFC 300 was bad enough, but the backlash from fans for his refusal to give ‘Poatan’ his props was worse. Then came the Jiri Prochazka TKO at UFC 311. Now, there’s more bad news on the horizon. He was scheduled for an absolute banger of a fight against Khalil Rountree Jr. However, that bout may be in jeopardy. Why? Well, reportedly, ‘Sweet Dreams’ is dealing with a leg injury three weeks out of his scheduled bout at UFC on ESPN 66. Remember that he lost his title because of a leg injury.

The news was shared by Krazy Kevin MMA on X. He uploaded a photo of Khalil Rountree and Jamahal Hill, with the caption, “Jamahal Hill is dealing with an ongoing leg injury having to withdraw from the card.”

According to the same MMA content creator, Derrick Lewis is added to the card, however, his opponent is yet to be announced: “The ‘Black Beast’ opponent is currently TBA, and it is unclear where he will be featured on the card as of now.” Derrick Lewis might replace the UFC Kansas City main fight but who will be his opponent? That question is yet to be answered.

Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree’s clash should have materialized last year at UFC 303. However, the fight was called off due to Rountree’s inadvertent ingestion of a banned substance, which forced the UFC to suspend him for two months. The UFC replaced Rountree with Roman Dolidze. But then Hill pulled out of that fight due to injuries, and was subsequently replaced by Anthony Smith.

Afterward, Hill disclosed the severity of his injuries, which forced him to withdraw from the UFC card concluding International Fight Week 2024. On Instagram, he shared, “Two tears in my meniscus, sprained my ACL, a Baker Cyst that leaked fluid in the back of my knee and a infusion in some joints! There were actually three of these. This is only making me hungrier. Be back soon! There were actually three of these. This is only making me hungrier. Be back soon!”

After months of rest, Jamahal Hill returned to face Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311, where he was knocked out by the former champion in the third round. Many believe that Hill should have rested rather than facing Prochazka, but he was adamant about it. But now it appears that the fighter is not in the mood to take any chances now. And what do fans have to say about it? Let’s take a closer look.

Fans react as Jamahal Hill vs. Khalil Rountree hits the roadblock

It seems that a fan might have to swallow a bitter pill as Jamahal Hill is out of the fight, though the official announcement is yet to be made by the company.“This better be real because this is my first ufc event and this is tragic, I spent my hard earned money on this so Jamahal ruining this is terrible.”

Furthermore, another fan expressed anger by comparing Hill to a new version of Paulo Costa.“Hill is the new Costa.” Why, you might ask? Well, that’s due to the fact that the Brazilian fighter has a history of pulling out from his fights. Back at UFC 294, the entire MMA community was excited to witness him fight against Khamzat Chimaev, but he pulled out due to an infection. Not just Chimaev, but he pulled out of scheduled bouts against Robert Whittaker (twice) and Jared Cannonier.

Moreover, a fan claims that Jamahal Hill ducked Khalil Rountree once again. Ducked Khalil again.” However, the reality is that Rountree was banned from fighting, leading to Roman Dolidze stepping in as Hill’s opponent. Ultimately, ‘Sweet Dreams’ had to withdraw from the fight due to injury.

As of March, the UFC has faced multiple fight cancellations, starting with Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan. If this trend continues, Dana White may have to intervene.“Ufc is falling off so hard.”  A social media user added that the promotion should book a replacement fighter for Rountree, given how exciting a fighter he is,“They have to get khalil a replacement bru i wanna see him fight.” Interestingly, another fighter wanted to witness Jamahal Hill lose, “nah bro, I wanted so much to see Jamahal lose to Khalil.”

If the rumors of Jamahal Hill pulling out are true, it’ll be a massive disappointment for fans given how exciting this light heavyweight fight is. For now, we’ll just have to wait for more details and watch with bated breaths. What do you think of this situation? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
