The 2024 NBA Finals MVP, Jaylen Brown, the absolute beast on the court, might just be losing his spark. Does this sound like a nightmare to you? Well, it should, especially if you are a Boston Celtics fan. Because the reigning champions need him. But given his recent health disturbances with injuries, it’s concerning to see JB lose his usual explosive gameplay.
He hates losing. He hates missing games. He hates to sit on the bench and watch the game from the sidelines. However, injuries don’t understand the pain a player feels, so by keeping himself on restricted minutes, the 28-year-old guard helped his team in a blowout win vs. the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. Scoring 24 points in their 132-102 win, Jaylen Brown might also be on a redemption track.
Jaylen Brown talks about physical and mental health after the Celtics took down the Suns
After missing three consecutive games due to a right knee injury, Jaylen Brown came back on Monday, March 25, to play against the Sacramento Kings. That comeback was far from outstanding because JB scored only 9 points? The dots don’t match. But coming back on the court in his usual self vs. the Phoenix Suns and scoring some solid points surely felt good.
Thus, speaking to the media after the game at the Footprint Center on Wednesday, the C’s superstar gave his unfiltered thoughts on his mental and physical health. As said before, JB hates missing games. Now he’s on a journey to gear up for the playoffs, however, injuries and absences have definitely affected the 28YO. So, the reporter asked: “What has this experience been like for you mentally, having to sit out a little bit?” Has Brown learned any lessons being away for a bit?
“You can say that, just rhythm, I’d say. But just battling injury, just mentally, you know, just making sure the confidence in your body is still in line with the game and stuff like that,” Jaylen Brown replied. “So no, that’s pretty much it. I’m still working my way back, just building up. Been on minute restriction, you know, but I’m still just making the right steps. My body still doesn’t feel 100%, but today was a good step in the right direction.”

Simply put, Jalen Brown is pushing through, step by step. It’s not just about rhythm—it’s about trust. His body isn’t fully there yet, but his mind refuses to waver. Injuries test more than strength; they challenge belief. He’s been on limited minutes, slowly climbing back. Today felt different, though—a glimpse of progress, a step toward feeling whole again.
He further said: “I haven’t really had issues with my knees ever in my career, so just trying to find a good routine to make sure I’m prepared and ready to go every night. But it’s definitely been a challenge, mentally and stuff like that.”
Well, JB isn’t used to this. His knees were never a problem—until now. Every game demands more, forcing him to adapt. Finding the right routine is a battle, not just physically but mentally. Some nights feel heavier, but he’s determined. The challenge is real, but so is his will to push through. And while his injuries, fitness, and mental well-being are some concerns for the Boston Celtics, they have another player they need to watch out for. And that is Kristaps Porziņģis.
JB sets the records straight for Kristaps Porzingis as they enter the playoff paths
KP and injuries go hand in hand. During his Dallas Mavericks days, he found his way out because of these eyesores. He was away for a good number of games at the beginning of the 2024-25 NBA Season as he was recovering from the injuries that he had acquired during the 2024 Finals.
Now, coming back to the present, Kristaps Porziņģis became the top scorer of the day, chipping 30 points in C’s win over the Suns. Thus proving that his worth and efficiency in the league cannot be questioned. However, the reporters wanted to know what Jaylen Brown, KP’s cookies and cream brother, thought about the 29-year-old Latvian big man.
“KP, he’s been great,” JB replied. “KP’s been balling, been playing well, shooting the ball well, making the right plays. And big time, we’re going to need him. We’re going to need him this year in the playoffs.” In 37 games, Porzingis has averaged 19.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. With a 48.9 FG%, he’s been on quite a roll lately. But what’s more important here is KP’s playmaking, which makes him an important key for the Celtics. And they desperately need him to stay healthy and efficient enough to make it to and through the playoffs.

The Celtics are built for greatness, but they need their warriors at full strength. Jaylen Brown is fighting, step by step, refusing to break. Kristaps Porziņģis is proving his worth, but his battle with injuries looms large. The playoffs demand everything—health, resilience, and fire. Boston’s fate depends on how well their stars hold up when it matters most.
