Jerry Jones is juggling so many things, as usual, none of them are the same size, weight, or shape. Micah Parsons’s contract extension is on the way. However, it looks difficult, considering that what happened on Wednesday in Dallas was scary for Parsons. Not to forget, the NFL draft is just three weeks away. But while these complex updates are unfolding, the Cowboys GM is not forgetting to add the latest and most local talent. The big news? Jones has invited a star NFL draft prospect to The Star.
Shemar Stewart, one of the top defensive players in this year’s NFL draft, visited the Dallas Cowboys’ headquarters at The Star. The update shocked many. Shemar Stewart’s college football team culture clearly explains the students’ attraction to America’s Team.

Stewart, a 6’5” defensive end for the Texas A&M Aggies, is soaring in mock drafts. The 21-year-old defender has been on the rise ever since showcasing his strengths throughout his college football career with Texas A&M. From 2022 to 2024, he played 65 games.
Although he didn’t score any touchdowns, Stewart understood his role. He recorded 30 solo tackles, 35 assisted tackles, and 4.5 sacks. Hence proving his effectiveness on the field. There’s no doubt he has the potential to excel at the next level. But before he gets there, he must navigate the draft process to demonstrate his true value to NFL teams.
Fortunately, he may not have to worry too much. Sports Illustrated reported, “There’s a decent chance Texas A&M’s Shemar Stewart will be available at No. 23.” That means if the Cowboys don’t prioritize offense, Jerry Jones could scoop him up with the 12th overall pick.
But hold on. The Packers are also in the mix. In fact, no one can predict anything clearly. There is no guarantee that the Cowboys can get him if another team trades up to land Shemar in their stable.
Amid this star defensive draft prospect’s visit, the Cowboys’ star defender is asking for a contract extension. Yup, we are talking about Micah Parsons. According to various sources, the deal has more than one problem.
Jerry Jones, Micah Parsons, and the contract extension drama
Though Jerry Jones already clarified at the annual meeting in Florida that he is in no rush regarding Micah Parsons’ contract extension, he said, “We are there. I don’t view it as urgent at all.” But on Wednesday, when Parsons wanted the GM to talk to his agent, Jerry Jones shut that down immediately.

Reporter Jori Epstein said this: “Multiple sources confirm to me that Micah Parsons asked Stephen & Jerry Jones to call his agent, David Mulugheta, to negotiate.” But when reporters asked Jones, he disrespected the agent. According to reporter Clarence Hill Jr., “Jerry Jones, with blatant disrespect to Micah Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta: The agent is not a concern here… I don’t know his name.” This created tensions regarding the contract extension.
The talks have been going on for a month. And in his typical style, Jerry Jones will likely drag this issue out as well. In fact, he has said the same. Talking to the media at the league’s Annual Meeting about Parsons’ deal, Jones said, “Some say using the basis that the earlier you get something done, the cheaper. Well, the earlier you get something done, a lot of the time, the more mistakes you make.” The GM also added, “You might want to see a few more cards played, not just with that particular negotiation but with the whole team.” So, regardless of various reports, at least with Jerry Jones’s statement, we can say, ‘Micah, please wait.’
While the star cornerback continues his contract extension saga, the Cowboys would add more defensive players through the 2025 draft. But Jerry Jones is also making great deals for the offensive side of the team. And the recent example? Joe Milton III trade with the New England Patriots. Go Cowboys!
