Dub Nation is constantly poking the Warriors during the offseason. So far, they have made no moves. A list of free agents remains on their radar. But with the Jonathan Kuminga saga still inconclusive, the franchise boasts a roster that looks the same as last season. In the few years they have remaining with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, it isn’t enough to walk through the tricky Western Conference Waters.
However, according to Jimmy Butler, it is. Having taken the role of ‘Robin’, the former Heat forward has utilized the offseason to sharpen himself for the role he will play with the Warriors. “I’m on my way to being great man. Robin. He gonna be robbing the s–t out of this m———-r this year,” Butler said on his latest Instagram post.
Clearly, the veteran forward isn’t worried. He’s navigated through strenuous situations in the past. But Jimmy Butler doesn’t just believe in himself. The head of the snake, Stephen Curry, has Butler’s confidence in performing Batman duties. There’s another role, too, assigned to Draymond Green.
Jimmy Butler is aware the Warriors aren’t going to get a statistical surge from the former DPOY. They don’t need that from him. The former Timberwolves forward sees Green as the Warriors’ protector, a role that’s always belonged to the ruthless forward. But its importance has always been understated. Butler knows that without Green, there’s no ship to sail.
“Draymond’s the Batmobile, you know. He like the one that gotta get us where we need to go. He do a little bit of everything. Shoot them things pew pew. Somebody shooting at us, he rolling over protecting us you know what I’m saying,” Butler added.
It’s going to take those versions of each of Stephen Curry, Green, and Jimmy Butler for the Warriors to sniff championship territory. Right now, their roster doesn’t look as flattering as some of their rivals. But apparently that doesn’t matter.
Jimmy Butler won’t back down
There are severe concerns heading into the new season. Jonathan Kuminga is yet to make a decision. That has unfortunately delayed everything the Warriors want to do. As much as the franchise hopes Curry or Butler to carry the mantle, they need help. Currently, the Warriors are stuck in an impasse, unable to pull the plug on any move.
The timing couldn’t be worse. The Warriors want to make these last few years count. Yet, the opportunities are taken away from them due to the onset of these complications. However, that might be the prime reason Jimmy Butler is coming in with vengeance. And he doesn’t appear to be alone.
The level of confidence in the Warriors locker room echoes one message. “Golden State though we’re on our way. We’re on our way I’ll tell you that,” Butler said in the video. Their core possesses three decorated NBA stars who, at their best, can do the unimaginable. That’s exactly what Jimmy Butler is envisioning.
It might still happen that the Warriors can make their moves. That doesn’t solve their primary aim. In order to win, their star trio is expected to do most of the heavy lifting. Butler is preparing to do just that as he looks to spark another Miami Heat-like run with the Bay.
