“I’ve been almost a year inactive, with no prospect of anything,” said Tom Aspinall recently while expressing his frustration about the Jon Jones fight not materializing yet. To rub more salt on the interim heavyweight champ’s wounds, ‘Bones’ would recently take a swipe at Aspinall, advising him to do “as you’re told.” UFC legend Michael Bisping, like many others, appears to have had enough as he’s concerned about Jones holding up the 32-year-old’s career.
As a UFC fighter, who claims to have not even reached his peak yet, Michael Bisping expects the UFC to make Tom Aspinall fight at least a couple of times every year. He needs to continue his work and show people why he’s the best finisher in the game right now and forging his own legacy, just like Jon Jones did back when he was on a roll back during the 2010s.
“[Aspinall should be] knocking people out, choking them out, making tons of money, building his legacy, and competing in his prime,” Michael Bisping stated on his YouTube channel. Meanwhile, he also wondered if there’s a bigger ploy at play from the undisputed heavyweight champion’s end. On that note, Bisping has concluded that Jon Jones could be looking to make Tom Aspinall wait until the Manchester native loses his shine.
“Jon Jones is wasting the prime years of Tom Aspinall, and maybe that’s what he’s trying to do. Maybe that’s the master plan. Maybe he’s playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers,” Michael Bisping further stated. Well, if wasting the prime of Aspinall is not the plan, then maybe ‘The Count’ believes Jon Jones is reluctant to fight because he understands the danger that the interim champ poses. Either way, Bisping wants the UFC to take some action and strip ‘Bones’ of the title.

While fans and legends are sounding off on Jon Jones for delaying the fight, Tom Aspinall, although frustrated, doesn’t seem to be upset about waiting for the undisputed champion. Why? Well, he claims to be lucky because of one important thing. Here’s what he had to say.
Waiting for Jon Jones at 32 years old isn’t an issue with Tom Aspinall
Fighting is mostly a young man’s game, and that’s why Tom Aspinall has the ball in his court and not Jon Jones. While the Englishman has often been deemed to be stronger and faster, redefining what it is to be a heavyweight, he also believes that his age is relatively young for a heavyweight fighter. As Jones nears his forties, Aspinall still has a lot of time since he’s 32 years old, and that’s why the interim champ feels “lucky” as he’s been made to wait for so long.
However, Manchester, even though he’s young, prefers to be more active and keep competing every now and then. “I’m quite lucky in that regard because I don’t feel like I have a lot of miles on the clock, and 32 is quite young for heavyweight, but I would definitely fight if I could,” Tom Aspinall told Demetrious Johnson.
